A Message from Fr. Frank: Brothers and Sisters

As the governor has indicated that public masses may resume in some form starting perhaps as early as May 20, I would like to

update everyone on where we are in the process.

As of yet, Governor Beshear has not given concrete details as he and his staff are working on

guidelines (note this can change by the minute, and may be outdated by the time we read this

bulletin). After the government has established guidelines, our Bishop will establish particular

guidelines for our diocese, after which we figure out how we will apply all those guidelines to our

own parishes.

So while we are excited and considering all our options we are in a bit of a waiting pattern until we hear from both parties. As we know more

and can speak to specific issues we will let everyone know.

Please be safe and know you are each in my prayers.

Please continue to be safe! Know that you are in our prayers. If anyone needs anything please call

(859) 967-4404. It will take more than this tragedy to prevent our faith and charity from shining this season. If Jesus can defeat death

itself, with His help we can overcome this crisis!

Look for Live Masses by Fr. Frank for this

weekend they will be announced by flocknote.

Greetings to all. I pray you are safe, well and coping with all the life changes

we have had. We all miss seeing the kids and families in religious ed and the adults who are inquiring about becoming Catholic. You are always in our

thoughts. If you have a child in religious education at St. Joe’s you should have gotten

a packet with work and activities for the kids. See your packets for instructions.

Our teachers will be contacting you with some fun hands on learning activities soon. I hope to be able to send something every couple of weeks

for them to learn. Totus Tuus summer program has been canceled for the summer of

2020. We hope to have it back next year. RCIA will continue online in the next couple of weeks.

On behalf of the St Joseph staff and volunteers we are praying for you and can’t wait until we can be together again. If you need anything please feel free to call the office voice mail, Father Frank, myself or Jennifer. May you

feel God’s presence in your lives.

Saint of the Week: St. Bernardine of Siena

Franciscan Friar Minor Priest.

Itinerant preacher. Theological

writer. His preaching skills were

so great, and the conversions so

numerous, that he has become

associated with all areas of

speaking, advertising, public

relations, etc. Bernardino’s charismatic preaching filled the piazze of Italian cities. Thousands of listeners flocked to

hear him and to participate in dramatic rituals, which included collective weeping, bonfires of vanities, and exorcisms. He was a renowned peacemaker, in the Franciscan tradition, who tried to calm feuding clans and factions in the turbulent political world of the Renaissance. His preaching visits would often culminate in mass reconciliations, as listeners were persuaded to exchange the bacio di pace, or kiss of peace. Bernardino was sensitive to the demands of secular life, and tried to negotiate between Christian ethics and a conflicting

code of honour that stressed retaining face in a public world. He argued that the catalyst of civil discord in the urban setting

was malicious gossip, which led to insults, and, too often, vendetta by aggressive males. His surprising allies in

his peacekeeping mission were the women who comprised the majority of his audience.

Feast Day is May 20. St. Bernardine pray for us.
