Congratulations Daniel S. Pava, soon to be FAICP and James K. Strozier, soon to be FAICP

Last month the Chair of the 2018 FAICP Selection

Committee reached out to Dan Pava and Jim Strozier to

congratulate them on their election to the College of

Fellows of FAICP. Each will become a Fellow upon

their induction during the 2018 Induction Ceremony in

New Orleans on April 22, 2018. Both Dan and Jim are

dedicated to supporting and promoting the profession of planning and understand

that a long-term commitment is necessary to

be considered a Fellow.

and congratulate Dan and Jim for their

continued work in New Mexico and

nationally that contributes to the professional

ideals of planning.

Welcome New Members-At-Large!

In December of 2017, with the support of a vote by the

membership, the APA-NM Chapter amended its by-laws to

include two additional voting “Members-At-Large” to expand

the diversity and capacity of the Chapter Board. With several

highly qualified candidates submitting letters of interest the board decided to

randomly select candidates from a hat at the February Board meeting. As a result,

we now welcome:

Rosa Kozub AICP - Rosa, a recent recipient of AICP status, supervises the

Government to Government Unit in NMDOT’s Statewide Planning Bureau and

has been active with APA in NM since 2011. Rosa has expertise in all elements of

transportation planning including Active Transportations having the led the State

as the Bicycle/Pedestrian/Equestrian Coordinator.

James Foty - James is a community planner who recently joined the team at

Consensus Planning and has his own firm, Anima Design, which focuses on

interactive online mapping and smaller-scale community assessments. James was

instrumental in helping APA-NM implement the Plan4Health New Mexico

Assessment and the associated story-maps.

And joining us in January of 2019…

Daniel J. Hortert AICP - Daniel is the current Economic

Development Specialist and Special Projects Manager for

Doña Ana County and has over 20 years experience in all

aspects of Community and Economic Development including private sector

planning in Arizona and California.

Daniel will be stepping into the shoes of our current Member-At-Large

Judith Suiter, ASLA, and Principal of Zephyr Design Inc who is a leader in the

field of environmental planning specializing in technical assistance including

NEPA-related proposals. Judy has been serving APA-NM for the past 4 years.

Thanks Judy for your contributions to APA-NM and continued hard work!
