Reference Collection Barcoding Project Purpose: Barcode books in the Reference collection with the intent of scanning the barcodes of the books that are used. Data collected from “In-house usage” will assist us with determining which books in the Reference collection are being used for collection assessment and collection development purposes. Mandate from University Auditing Office: Collection in Odum Library will be inventoried. Supplies needed: Spine label printer TLP 2844 Wand for inputting barcodes

Process: Step 1. Shelflister will be used to identify the following: -books still needing to be barcoded. E.g. Mental Measurements Yearbooks -data needing to be cleaned up Step 2. Identified books will be barcoded by Deb V. New labels will be placed on the books to easily identify which books have been barcoded. Data needing correction will be corrected by myself or the cataloging staff. Step 3. Once collection has been inventoried, Reference books left out and on the book truck will have their barcodes scanned. Step 4. Data will be downloaded each year, and the data analyzed for collection development purposes.
