STANDARD 1 REFLECTION Propose an important topic that would be appropriate for teaching a lesson or unit in elementary or middle school. Identify the level where it could be taught. Analyze why this topic is important in the elementary/middle content area.

Explain how you would impart your knowledge to elementary or middle school students.

Standard Two Reflection Briefly summarize two different and unique experiences with children and

youth. Discuss how the first experience allowed you to understand how children

with differing ranges of ability learn. Explain how you provided instruction that supports their intellectual, social, and personal development.

In a separate paragraph discuss your second experience as in #2 above.

Standard Four Reflection Provide a summary of your lesson.

Discuss how this teaching experience allowed you to use of a variety of instructional strategies, including the use of technology* and other materials.

Explain how you encouraged students’ development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

STAPLE the reflection on the top of your ES 203 lesson plan. Remove all names and lesson reflection from the lesson plan.

* The use of technology is recommended but not required at this stage.

lesson plan where required. Each complete set should be PAPER CLIPPED TOGETHER Points will be deducted

if these instructions are not followed.

Admission decisions will be emailed approximately two weeks after the application deadline.

STUDENT SUBMITTING. COLLABORATION WITH OTHER STUDENTS IS NOT ALLOWED ON MCEA GATE 1 APPLICATION MATERIALS.

Academic MisconductThe instructor considers academic misconduct a serious issue and follows the guidelines and procedures outlined on

the UW—Eau Claire Dean of Students web site (www.uwec.edu/DOS/policies/upload/BlugoldCode2012.pdf). As per the handbook:

“Academic misconduct is an act in which a student:a. Seeks to claim credit for the work or efforts of another without authorization or citation;

b. Uses unauthorized material or fabricated data in any academic exercise;c. Forges or falsifies academic documents or records;

d. Intentionally impedes or damages the academic work of others;e. Engages in conduct aimed at making false representation of a student’s academic performance; or

f. Assists other students in any of these acts.”
