Reporting on the progress of our Ritual Teamthat performed in Cozad against four other teams inwhat they call "Practice Under Pressure" they ;achieved second place. This helps prepare them forthe State Competition in April in which six otherteams will be competing. Award winners on yourteam were Amy Jacobsen (Lecturing Knight), RyanHall (Chaplain) and Russ Earnest (Inner Guard).Most Impressive were Doug Reinks (Esquire) andSonny Lane (Winning Candidate).

A big thank you to our coaches Stephen Wirthand Rich Todd and all the Ritual Team for their timeand effort in representing our Lodge in this event.

Yep, March is here, and yes;these are all signals of the first ofmany changes that occur during every calendaryear. Not to be left out; March also signals the endand beginning of new activity in the Elks Lodge.

The current Lodge year ends March 31st, aoctthe new Lodge year begins April 1st. Dues sfate- _ments for the next Lodge year have been sentout. Your prompt return of your payment will bemuch appreciated.

Also, the new Lodge officers will be installedwithin a month, and new programs and, improve­ments to the Lodge are in work or takingshape. The Lodge has lots of positive energy goingfor it and we working to build on it and createImore.

On a personal note, I am celel?rating the birth ofmy 4th grandchild (a girl - named Joraan Karley),born February 22nd. Arid of course she is the- bestand cutest! If I am a little slow in getting back to youshould you need to tal~ with me, I am sure you willunderstand. ©

Steak DinnerlWinter FormalThere were only about 35 people that attended.

Steak was wonderful, giant slab that covered halfIthe plate. Green beans and half baked potatoes inolive oil and garlic salt were well received. Cheese­cake for dessert went well.

Three or 4 of the 12 honorees and their wiveswere in attendance.

Thank you to everyone who helped with thisdinner. It was a lot ofhard work!

Pancake Feed a Success!On January 27th, the Lodge's Charitable Fund

group that finances and admin­isters 18 Scholarships for ourarea youth, hosted a Pancakefeed for over 300 people.

This was possible because,first, Officers and P.E.R.s soldover 200 tickets; secondly, withthe help of advertising andsigns leading to the Lodge, over

100 ~o.re wa.lked in and enjoyed pancakes,:.. s~,sage, JUice, milk and coffee. f __ ~~ .. ~The result was a net profit to"tlie""fund of

Others worked the entire 6 hour session, includ-ing Steve Wirth, PancakeChairman, who also contrib­uted many hours prior to Sun­day and was the main reasoneverything ran smoothly.

• The new AN system has been Installed andundergoing testing and tweaking, many thanks toMark Kelly who spent a lot of extra time and ef­fort reworking our sound system while he was atit...the PA can be clearly heard throughout theLodge Room.

• The Chili & Chicken Soup Dinner was greatbut we had a bit of chili left over ...ask Tom Roperwhat to do with 80 gallons of chili.

• We had a successful pancake feed lastmonth ...Lots of happy faces in the crowd.

• We honored our New Lifetime Members at theSteak Dinner this last weekend ...several wereable to attend ...The steak was wonderful, thanksto John Aman and Chuck Steenson's culinaryskills; a big thanks to Charles Aman and hisfriend Andrew who did a great job decorating thetables and making things look nice. The organmusic was a nice touch too.

• Ritual Team did a great job at "Practice underPressure." What's this about our Esquire DougReinks winning the award for most impressive­ness? And I thought it was just the "brotherlylove." Apparently Amy Jacobsen really wowedthem as did Brother Ryan Hall won 1st as Chap­lain! Way to go Ryan!

• Need a home for our old projection TV hasbeen removed from the Lodge Room if you oranyone you know is interested please call SonnyLane and adopt it.

• Rumor has it that we may be able to sell one ofour smoke-eaters, since we are no longer able touse them.

• Thank you to J. Richard Spellman had wonthe cash calendar on 1/21 for $80. He in turnsigned it off, sent it back to the Elks which hasbeen put into our General Fund.

• NEEDED: Teen of the Month Sponsor: Coordi­nating with 20 middle school counselors to nomi­nate a boy and girl teen of the month. Awardsavings bonds at Lodge to each student.

• NEEDED: Midget Football Liaison: Coordinatewith midget football coaches on needs for equip­ment and other budget item needs.

• NEEDED: Membership Committee Chairper­son: Goal to increase our membership in thelodge.

• NEEDED: Bar Steward: Ordering food and bev­erages, inventory control, manage bar staff.

• Our Lodge room converts easily into-a lovelyreception area and can be decorated most at­tractively for smaller weddings. Call the officefor more details.

• Used cooking oil can be recycled at the Lodgeby bringing it to the Lounge. By Health CodeRegulations, the Lodge must have a separategrease disposal system. This is an annual fee,which is reduced if we provide enough used oilfor recycling. Save your grease and old fryingoil and help our Elks Lodge and the environ­ment.
