GMR Institute of Technology is situated at

Rajam, a small industrial town about 100 Kms

The annual intake of the institute is 810

• 1st September 2010: Smt. Botsa Jhansi, M.P. inaugurated Club House and distributed merit scholarships to the 2nd year students for their performance in 1st year.

• 15th September 2010: Dr.Srinivasa Rao Kota, Dept of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA, delivered a guest lecture on “Design of Assistive Human Machine Interface Control Signal Classifier” to 3rd ECE Students.

• 16th September 2010: Prof.S.K.Rao, Former professor of IIT Kharagpur addressed faculty members of Civil Department on “Pavement Design”.

• 29th September 2010: Dr.Rajib Mall, Professor IIT Kharagpur, addressed the faculty of GMRIT on Research Methodologies.

• MSME approved “Business Incubation Center” under the scheme “Support for Entrepreneurial and managerial development of SMEs through Incubators” and is one among the three incubation centers sanctioned in AP.

• 5th October 2010: Mr. Ch.Satyananda Reddy, Assistant Professor, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, delivered a guest lecture on the topic “use interface design” for III CSE students.

• 28th October 2010: Mr.B.Ramu, Municipal Commissioner of Rajam, addressed on “Combat of Polythene usage” for 1st year students.

• 22nd and 26th October 2010: Perth college team visited GMRIT and interacted with the staff and students.

• As an NSS activity, tree plantation drive has been initiated by the 1st year students on the campus.

• 4th October 2010: GMRIT conducted a “SPICMACAY” ODISSI Dance Performance by Ms. Sujata Mishra, Bhubaneswar.

• 26th and 27th November, 2010: Mr. M.Damodara, Sr. Application Engineer, CoreL Technologies, Bangalore, visited the campus as a resource person for the workshop organized by the departments of ECE and EEE..

• 12th to 18th November 2010: Dr. CLVRSV. Prasad, Principal, attended “ASME-2010: International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition” at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

• 21st December 2010: Dr.V.Ravindranadh, Professor & Head Department of

Mathematics JNTUK delivered a lecture on “Numerical methods using ‘MATHEMATICA’ (Mathematical Methods topic)” for 1st year B.Tech students.

• 9th and 10th December 2010: GMRIT conducted an awareness program on “Evils on Anti Raging Measures” to 2nd B.Tech students.

• 16th December 2010: IBM-Centre of Excellence was inaugurated by Mr. Praveen Kesava, Head – Smarter Planet, IBM, addressed the 3rd year IT and CSE students on ‘IBM Initiatives and Technologies’.

• 29th December 2010: NSS Blood Donation camp held at GMRIT in association with Indian Red Cross Society.

• GMRIT is ranked 79 all India and 5th in AP in Dataquest - IDC survey, 2010.

ACHIEVEMENT

• The project titled “Modeling of saltwater intrusion for an effective management of coastal aquifers: A case study of Srikakulam coastal belt in AP” by Dr G Venkata Rao, Dept of Civil Engineering was sanctioned with a grant of Rs 18.3 Lakhs from DST.

• Department of CSE Received DST sanctioned Rs. 50,000/- for National Workshop on “Statistical Computing” and which will be held in December 2010.

• 25th September 2010: A Cultural workshop conducted by INSYNC’ by M/s Samprati, Bangalore for 2nd B.Tech students.

• 29th and 30th October 2010: Department of BS&H conducted a Two day National workshop on “ELT: Its impact on improving communication skills and employability of students”.

• 29th October 2010: Mr. K.R.Surendran, Asst. Professor of English acted as one of the Resource Persons in the workshop on

ELT and delivered a talk on Etiquette required for Employability.

• 25th and 26th November 2010: Department of CSE conducted a 2 day workshop on “Oracle 10g: SQL Fundamentals training“ by Ch.Sreenu Babu, department of CSE.

• 26th and 27th November 2010: Departments of ECE & EEE conducted A Two -day National workshop on “FPGA based DSP Implementation using XILINX (FDIX-10)”.

• 15th & 16th December 2010: Eleven Chemical students presented 6 papers at RIPPLES 2010 National Symposium in Andhra University College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam.

• 10th December 2010: Three Mechanical Students and Two CSE students presented 3 papers at ANITS, Visakhapatnam.

• P.Srinivasa Naidu, 3rd CSE (100 Mts) and K.Parda Saradhi 3rd EEE (200 Mts), represented JNTU in All India Inter University Athletic meet held at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur from 30th December 2010.

• 10th and 11th December 2010: A.Mahesh Reddy (Chem) got 2nd prize for his paper “Temperatures Dependence of Photo voltaic modules and systems” and P.Sai Srikanth (Chem) got 2nd prize for his paper “Heterotrophic Denitrification” CHEMOSPHERE – 2KX Dept. of Chemical Engg. S.V.U. Tirupati.

• Cultural Workshop – InSync was conducted for the 2nd year B.Tech students. No of students participated – 560.

• Phase 1 of CRT training programs was conducted for the final year B.Tech & MCA students. No. of students attended – 630.

• Mock GATE 2011 conducted. 190 students participated.

• CAT-2011 & GRE classes were conducted for 36 students 6 hours per week.

• Mr. Sunil Agrawal, VP- Power Trading, GMR Energy, addressed the ECE and EEE students through Video Conference on 5th October 2010.

• Mr. J Chandrasekhar, TCS visited GMRIT and addressed all the Final year students on 23rd October 2010.

• 26th Nov, 2010: Video Conference was conducted for B.Engg (Air Craft) students with Perth College team.
