Community helpers Project!
Our kindergarteners are learning about Community Helpers. We will focus on helpers of our community such as a police officer, teacher, firefighter, mail carrier, bus driver, soldier, baker, chef, librarian, construction worker, military and more. This project will integrate reading, writing, math and social studies. Enjoy!There are seven parts to this project. Everyone must complete each part. All parts to the project are due by Thursday, April 2nd by 7:00 pm. Please include all parts in one email at one time to make it easy. This project will be graded under seven different areas.
Part I: On the attached activity sheet write 3-5 complete and detailed sentences explaining what a community is based on the videos you’ve watched. Draw and color a picture of your community. Points will be subtracted if it is not the student’s handwriting, handwriting is not neat, lines are not used properly and the drawing and colorinf is not their best work.

Part II: Watch the following videos about community helpers. Decide which community helper that you would like to be. On the attached sheet write five complete sentences telling me what a community helper is, which one you would like to be and why. Be sure to fully explain the job of your person and how they help people in the community.

Part III: Attached is a blank paper doll. Your kindergartener’s assignment is to give the paper doll a community helper make-over of their choice. Transform this paper doll into the community helper that they wrote about and would like to be. Please help your child be very creative, neat and colorful. Please do not just have them color it. Just coloring will automatically subtract points.

Then, explain the service that your community helper provides to the community. Also, tell me the service that the community gets from the community helper providing this service.
