TotsBots - A Brief History

We are a family run business who design and manufacture all of our products from our factory in Glasgow, using ethically sourced, Oeko-tex certified fabrics. Recently, we became the first reusable nappy company in the world to use

waterproof fabrics that are made from super soft 100% recycled polyester yarn, re-purposing plastic bottle waste that was destined for landfill.

Why Choose Cloth?

No nasty chemicals

Disposable nappies can contain dioxins, sodium polycacrylate, perfumes, volatile organic compounds and

phthalates.

They are easy to use90% of parents found reusables

much easier than they expected.

Cloth nappies are 40% beer for the environment than disposables.

Cloth nappies can save parents up to £750.

Just beautiful superso fabrics next to baby’s skin!

A wash load of nappies takes 5 minutes to put on, 5 minutes to hang up to dry and 5 minutes to fold and put

away. Parents will do that on average 3 times a week. Easy!

Beer for the environment

Nearly 8 million nappies are thrown to landfill everyday in the UK, that’s 3 billion per year, and with the plastics in

disposables taking 500 years to decompose, that’s a big pile of waste!

They save parents money

This is compared to the cost of using disposables throughout a baby’s ‘nappyhood’. Our nappies can be

reused for a second child if cared for correctly (see page 5), saving parents even more money.

Your customer questions answered!

It’s simple! To get rid of the poo from the nappy just use a simple little biodegradable nappy liner, which are available to buy from totsbots.com.Before putting the nappy on, pop a liner into the nappy and when change time comes around just lift the liner out of the nappy, pop the poo in the loo and the liner in the bin (or compost if feasible). Job done!

Can they be used from birth? All of our nappies can be used from 8lb-35lb’s due to the clever poppering system on the

front. TeenyFits will fit from 5lb-12lb so are perfect for smaller babies, premature babies or twins. Customers have used TeenyFits with their newborns until they’re 6 months old, so

they’re worth the investment if baby is very small.

Using them out & about

Here are the most common questions we get asked at TotsBots HQ.

Washing GuidelinesYou will no doubt be asked about the environmental issues around washing

nappies. You can assure your customers that even with laundering, cloth nappies are still 40% better for the environment!

Laundering Yay’s Definite No No’s!&PREWASH nappies a few times at 40° to get them up to full absorbency.

The velcro tabs on our nappies can be folded back which should be done before washing. This will stop the nappies sticking to anything!

Use NON-BIO POWDER as it is better for baby's skin. There is also an enzyme present in some bio detergents which is corrosive to bamboo fibre and cotton.

Line dry whenever possible. Not only will sunlight bleach stains out of the nappies but the UV radiation will kill bacteria too. Nappies can be tumble dried on a cool setting if needed.

NEVER boil wash or use the 'baby' wash cycle as this is a boil wash and at 90 degrees is unsuitable for your nappies.

NEVER soak nappies in harsh stain removers.

NEVER use wash powder pastes or bicarb of soda to soften them.

AVOID oil based barrier creams & always use with a fleece liner if barrier creams are needed.

Don't dry nappies directly on radiators or similar, this can damage the PUL (the waterproof bit!) and elastic affecting the functionality of the nappies.

Cloth nappies undergo quite a bit of laundering in their lifetime. To get the most out of TotsBots nappies, customers should follow our Do's and Don'ts.

Use non-bio powder ONLY, not liquid and AVOID fabric softener. Nappies can be washed at up to 60°, but 40° is absolutely fine. No need to soak. Dirty nappies can be stored in a nappy bucket with mesh liner, which can be found at totsbots.com
