September 1st 2015 COMMUNITY FREE CHURCH WEEKLY PRAY FOR GOD’S WORK IN OUR MIDST Psalm 127:1 God this is your project and place - fill it with Your Glory! Josh DeYoung has all the costs estimates done and is ready to start the project. Demolition will begin end of this week, or early next week and the project will take roughly 4-5 weeks to complete. There will be work days scheduled for carpet demolition, painting, and other jobs. A great turnout for the workdays will equal significant cost savings and allow us stretch every dollar so we can do the nursery as well as carpet the worship center. First and foremost Pray, then Ask God how you might help Serve in the coming weeks. As of today there are over 65 kids registered for the 2015/2016 AWANA program that starts September 13th, at 6:00pm! With the challenges of a fresh start no one knew what this year would hold, but faithful volunteers met, prayed, listened, learned, and have led us to this point where we are hoping to meet even more kids with the Gospel in the coming months! This past weekend volunteers handed out 200 brochures at the River Festival and registered 5 kids! Please take a moment today and share AWANA with someone you know! AWANA starts September 13th, at 6:00pm I want to challenge each and everyone of us to read memorize the gospel, to preach it first and foremost to ourselves and then out into the world seeing lives changed for God’s Glory! It is the good news that a just and gracious Creator has looked upon hopelessly sinful men and women and has sent his Son, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, to bear his wrath against sin on the cross and to show his power over sin in the resurrection, so that everyone who turns from their sin and themselves and trusts in Jesus as Savior and Lord will be reconciled to God forever. (1 Corinthians 15:1-12) The Gospel is a message that is to be proclaimed by every believer (Mark 1:14; Acts 14:21, Romans 1:16, 1 Peter 1:12).

PRAY FOR GOD’S WORK IN OUR MIDST

Psalm 127:1God this is your

project and place - fill it with Your Glory!

Isaiah: The King and His Glory “Preaching the Gospel to Yourself”Pastor Jason Schifo 8/30/15

Introduction:“No one is more influential in your life than you are. Because no one talks to you more than you do. This emphasizes our need to daily to preach the gospel to ourselves.” Paul Tripp

“Most pitfalls come from listening to self, talking to self, and not listening, talking and meditating on God through his message of hope.” Martyn Lloyd Jones

“To preach the gospel to yourself, then, means that you continually face up to your own sinfulness and then flee to Jesus through faith in His shed blood and righteous life. It means that you appropriate, again by faith, the fact that Jesus fully satisfied the law of God, that He is your propitiation, and that Godʼs holy wrath is no longer directed toward you.” Jerry Bridges! !! ! 2 Corinthians 2:2Exposition:! As you may know, the United States along with the leaders of 5 other

countries, have signed a “deal with Iran” which includes some language and

promises that are very dangerous to the well being of our nation, and to the

stability of Israel and the Middle-East.

We have an opportunity to lift our voices in a powerful way and lend our support to our leaders, thereby being

instrumental in pursuing a better deal.

September 6th at 6:00pm at Community Evangelical Free Church

Please join us September 25th, for a virtual 24 hour prayer vigil where we will be joining churches all over the world in praying for Pastor Saeed Abedini, an American pastor who is currently serving an eight year prison sentence in one of Iranʼs toughest prisons simply because of his faith in Jesus.

Since his arrest in September 2012, he has been beaten, and emotionally and physically tortured. Yet, in a letter to his wife, Naghmeh, he wrote:

“… like the rats I can scream with joy within those prison walls and worship my Lord in joy and strength. The Joy of the Lord is my strength. Amen.”

We pray that he may continue to hold fast to the Lord and find joy and strength in Him while he remains in prison. His wife, Naghmeh and their two children have remained in the United States, so please pray for their comfort and peace as they wait on the Lord during this difficult time.

What do I do? This Sunday and every Sunday till the 25th there will be a sign up sheet in the back of the church. Sign up for 1 hour over the 24 hours and covet to PRAY for Saeed and his family. There is nothing to “attend” it is something you do where you are.

PRAYER VIGIL

As you heard on Sunday morning, we received news on Tuesday night that there is a real chance that Abigail and Savannahʼs biological father will concede his rights, KICKING OPEN the door to John and Julie Rochester adopting the girls! PRAISE GOD!We believe that this only happenED through lots of prayer on their behalf. We also believe that even more prayer is needed. So please PRAY every day ahead of their upcoming court date on September 9th and the 10th.

Because we believe that prayer is absolutely crucial in this and every battle, the Elders want to invite YOU to come September 8th, from 6:00-700pm to PRAY and SUPPORT the Rochester family. Letʼs Pack the Church.

2 New Studies Starting September 20th -Register Sunday at Church!

Do you want to study the Bible? Do you want to get to know others who are passionate about Godʼs Word? Do you want to grow to know more about God?

Then think about attending Bible Study Fellowship this fall. For the first time a study on the entire Book of Revelation will starting in mid September 2015 through May 2016. Each expositional study has three parts: a study guide you complete, a small group discussion where you talk about what you learned, and a lecture on the weeks materials. This gives you the opportunity to hear it multiple times. Menʼs Bible Study Fellowship will start September 14th, 6:45pm, at First Baptist Church of Savoy. There is a program for kids 1st grade through High School. Womenʼs Bible Study Fellowship will start September 15th, 9:10am, at First Christian Church in Champaign. There is a childrenʼs program birth through preschool. This is an excellent FREE opportunity for the whole family to study through a book of the Bible together every week!

For more information please see Michele Shafer ([email protected]), Tasha Schifo ([email protected]), or Pastor Jason (who attends the Monday night Menʼs Study).

When was the last time you were able to spend an hour rocking a baby? When was the last time you

were able to give your undivided attention to a curious infant?

The baby/infant nursery needs your loving touch. We have many babies coming to Sunday School and church each week and their parents could use a break so they can focus on God. During this time it is our chance to tell these little ones how

much God loves them. Say “YES” to serving on

a rotating team. See Michelle Shafer (shafer5@mchsi) or Tasha Schifo ([email protected]) today!
