  • Isaiah 9:1-6

O sing a new song to the Lord; sing to the Lord, all the earth. O sing to the Lord, bless his Name.

Proclaim his help day by day, tell among the nations his gloryand his wonders among all the peoples.

Let the heavens rejoice and earth be glad, let the sea and all within it thunder praise, let the land and all it bears rejoice, all the trees of the wood shout for joy.

At the presence of the Lord for he comes,he comes to rule the earth. With justice he will rule the world,he will judge the peoples with his truth

Symbol of Faith (Nicene Creed)I believe in one God,the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,of all things visible and invisible.I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God,born of the Father before all ages.God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvationhe came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

    All kneel and pause

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third dayin accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heavenand is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in gloryto judge the living and the deadand his kingdom will have no end.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sinsand I look forward to the resurrection of the deadand the life of the world to come. Amen.

  • page 9Why are we kneeling during the Creed?Normally we bow during the words which profess our belief that the Word became flesh, however at Christmas Masses, we kneel as a deeper sign of our reverence and humility.

    Away in a Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,The little Lord Jesus Laid down his sweet head. The stars in the sky Looked down where he lay,The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.I love you, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky,And stay by my cradle Till morning is nigh.

  • O sing a new song to the LORD,for he has worked wonders. His right hand and his holy armhave brought salvation.

The LORD has made known his salvation, has shown his deliverance to the nations. He has remembered his merciful loveand his truth for the house of Israel.

All the ends of the earth have seenthe salvation of our God.Shout to the LORD, all the earth;break forth into joyous song, and sing out your praise.

Sing psalms to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of song. With trumpets and the sound of the horn,Raise a shout before the King, the LORD.

Let the sea and all within it thunder;the world, and those who dwell in it.Let the rivers clap their hands, and the hills ring out their joyat the presence of the LORD, for he comes,he comes to judge the earth.

He will judge the world with justice, and the peoples with fairness.
