Carnival in ItalyThe Carnival is traditionally the period before Lent and is celebrated with costume parties , parades of floats and dances. The main events take place ending with Shrove Tuesday, which precedes the Feast of Ashes, beginning, for Christians, a sacred period of forty days in preparation for the feast of Easter, called Lent (from the Latin quarantine ) .Throughout Italy will organize parties and costume parades. In many towns there are processions of floats.

At the Carnival today are related some typical masks, caricatures of faults and defects of the inhabitants of the various regions.
