8th March 2012 - Week 5 Term 1
Information Evening – Date Change
Due to some staff development training in Nelson on Tuesday, we have had to
change the information evening date until next Wednesday 14th March.
We have found that in the interviews after the initial school report the majority
of the interviews are taken up with the same points of interest:
Homework expectation
Spelling
Class expectations
Basic facts / tables
In order to save repeating the same thing over and over, we will hold an
information evening to go over the above, as well as explain how the maths,
reading and writing programmes, work, explain how we use National Standards
and suggest ways parents can help support their child’s learning at home.
Information Evening Timetable
6.30pm Rm 2 ,Wendy Yr1 Rm1 ,Jodie Yr 5 / 6
6.50pm Rm 5 Diarmuid Yr 4 / 5 Rm3 Helen Yr 2
7.10pm Rm 4 Judy Yr 3 / 4
Tea and coffee will be available during the evening.
Reports Beginning of year reports have gone home tonight. These
reports indicate how the teachers feel your child has settled into the school
year. The children have also filled in some information for
you.
There is a section for parents to fill in and this gives the
teacher important information about your child and their
commitments.
Please return the filled in report to school.

I think buddy reading is a good opportunity to see
how the younger students read and what type of
books they read. And you get to know your buddy better.

Capturing ‘Buddy Reading’ moments! Buddy reading is nice and
it is good to hear the little kids read and see how they
are doing. Sophie F.
I like that you help younger kids with their reading
Hamish S.
It is a good chance for kids to share what they are reading and
you can help them pronounce the words.
Jack W. I like buddy
reading because you get to read
with people from different classes. You also get to see what sort of books
they like. Fleur H.
