    2he Community *estivals Grants Program aims to strengthencommunity festival activities across the municipality and in doingso3 cele rate the diverse and unique communities ithin the Cityof Greater Geelong.

    2he Program is availa le to groups see ing to develop small tomoderate si4ed festivals hich cele rate local or communityidentity3 provide a diverse range of arts activities in accessi lelocations3 and enrich the cultural life of the Geelong community.

    2hree categories of Community *estival grants are availa le5

    1 C!&&%nit. Fe#ti/al# (One2!"")

    2his grant supports festival'type events that feature a diversearts and cultural program3 ut that only occur once3 such as ama6or 0// th anniversary cele ration for a historical uilding.

    3 C!&&%nit. Fe#ti/al# (De/el!'&ent)

    2his grant provides seed funding for ne and emerging festivalshich plan to continue to develop and or gro . *estivals may re'

    apply annually as often as desired.

    4 C!&&%nit. Fe#ti/al# (Triennial)

    2his 2riennial grant provides support for ell'esta lishedcommunity festivals hich have demonstrated strong potential todevelop and or gro . 2o qualify3 the festival must have a proventrac record of at least three successful years of operation3 anddemonstrate sound community development principles inplanning3 participation and provision of arts and cultural

    opportunities.

    I# Y!%r E/ent A C!&&%nit. Fe#ti/al"t is important to ensure that your event is a Community *estivalas opposed to an arts pro6ect or ma6or event. *or the purposesof this program3 a Community *estival is defined as5

    7 Primarily focused on meeting the cultural needs of the localcommunity rather than a non'local audience.

    7 Cele rates local identity and uniqueness of place.

    7 Provides opportunities for community arts and culturaldevelopment.

    7 Community participation is evident in the planning process.

    7 8ffers a diverse range of cultural e1periences and activities.

    7 %tilises space in a creative or different manner than thatintended as its primary purpose eg. par s or a foreshore.

    7 "s idely accessi le and a le to attract a road range ofparticipation and attendance.

    Chan0e# t! Pr!9e$t Pri!r t! C!&'leti!n7 *unds are allocated on the asis of festival descriptions

    provided in Grant applications3 ith the e1pectation that thefestival ill e delivered as descri ed. ;ou must seeapproval in riting from Council via the Arts & CultureDepartment if su stantial changes are to e made to the

    nature of the festival3 or if grant funds cannot e e1pendedithin 0 months.

    7 "f a festival does not go ahead3 Council must e contactedimmediately to arrange for the return of grant funds.

    Fe#ti/al E/al%ati!n7 *or Council audit purposes3 an Acquittal must e su mitted

    upon conclusion of any funded activity. Acquittal is conductedy completing an $1cel :preadsheet provided y the Arts &

    Culture Department.

    7 Acquittals ill include a self evaluation of the event#seconomic enefit to Geelong.

    7 8rganisations that do not su mit a completed Acquittal *orm3including an accurate statement of actual e1penditure offunds3 and all ta1 invoices related to grant e1penditure3 ill eineligi le to apply to City of Greater Geelong for future grants.

    7 %nless ritten permission is o tained from the Arts & Culture%nit3 grant funds must only e used as indicated in the Grant

    Application udget. *unds not used as originally intendedmay need to e returned to Council.

    OT ER GRANT STREAMS"n addition to the Community *estivals Grants3 the City of Greater Geelong also provides the follo ing other funding streams5

    C!&&%nit. Art# Grant# (Art# Pr!9e$t)2he Community Arts Grants (Arts Pro6ect) aims to support theinitiation3 development and delivery of quality arts pro6ects3

    enriching the cultural fa ric of the Geelong region andma1imising community participation in local arts activity.

    2he program is structured to ena le a ide range of arts andcultural groups to o tain a share of the grant funds for a variedrange of pro6ects spanning all arts genres.

    $ligi le organisations may apply for activities that ill ta e placeithin the Greater Geelong municipality3 and hich demonstrateenefit to the cultural life of the Geelong community.

    C!&&%nit. Art# Grant# (5iennial)2his iennial Grant category provides a more su stantial level offunding for the development of large'scale arts pro6ects ith oneor more phases of activity that span across a t o'year period.

    annual funding round3 and hy funding is necessary at shortnotice (eg. creation of an arts program to support anenvironmental disaster relief effort).
