PreludeFor more than 45 years, Tipton-Rosemark Academy has offered a quality
education in a Christian environment. As North Shelby County’s
preeminent college preparatory school, TRA is a one-to-one technology
school offering a comprehensive education focused on academics,
spirituality, athletics and fine arts. The culture is characterized by
high expectations for student involvement and achievement.
Students are encouraged and expected to participate in
extracurricular activities. These values are ideal for enhancing
performing and visual arts education.
At TRA, it is not uncommon for a football or basketball player
to land a role in a theatrical performance. Additionally, an
appreciation for visual arts is an essential part of the
curriculum. A love of music and art is instilled in our students
as early as pre-kindergarten and continues throughout
high school.
Developing the knowledge and skills required to create,
perform and respond to the arts lies at the very heart
of the TRA experience. The award-winning fine arts
department at TRA exemplifies our dedication to this
important aspect of education. The Many Dreams,
One Vision capital campaign is necessary to further
this essential educational element and to properly
fund the renovations to the old gymnasium that
will become the Tipton-Rosemark Academy
Performing Arts Center & Chapel.
Center StageThe 14,000 sq. ft. Performing Arts Center & Chapel will feature:
• Stadium Theater Seating To Accommodate 350-375 People
• Banquet Seating To Accommodate 400+ People
• 10 Motorized Risers To Allow For Optimal Stage Viewing
• 46′ Stage Opening /30′ Deep Stage
• Blackout Exterior Windows
• Multi-Layered / Tiered Motorized Curtain System
• State Of The Art Lighting And Audio-visual Technologies
• Elevated Audio-visual Booth
• Elegantly Appointed Lobby
• Alumni Entrance Hall
• Ticket Center
• Refreshment Center With Kitchenette
• Ample Prop, Costume And Set Storage
• Spacious Dressing Rooms
• State Of The Art Classroom
The number of students participating in visual and performing arts
courses and activities has grown tremendously in recent years.
The current facilities at the school are inadequate to meet the demands of
the music and theater arts curriculum.
The present school theater is a converted gymnasium that was built in the
1940’s. The building’s support equipment, including lighting and sound,
heating and air conditioning, is obsolete.
School productions and programs are presently limited to less than ideal
settings due to technical and space restrictions of the existing theatre.
Currently, special school assemblies, meetings and chapels are held in the
middle school gymnasium, which offers inadequate and uncomfortable
seating, as well as poor acoustic and lighting options. Additionally,
moving such events to a Performing Arts Center & Chapel preserves the
life and integrity of the gymnasium floor surface.
A Performing Arts Center & Chapel is the ideal use for the existing
structure. It will revitalize the historic campus facility and the TRA
campus as a whole.
The Tipton-Rosemark AcademyPerforming Arts Center & Chapel
will host school and community events such as:
School Chapels • Theater ProductionsChoir Concerts •Art Shows • Class ReunionsBanquets • School Programs • Civic Meetings
Receptions • Movies • Dances

a tremendous long-term impact on our students, their families, and the

Setting the StageOnce home to a fan-filled
gymnasium, a bustling cafeteria
and a theatrical stage, the facility on
the TRA campus soon to house the
Tipton-Rosemark Academy Performing
Arts Center & Chapel is now undergoing
renovations. With a goal of $500,000, the Many
Dreams, One Vision capital campaign will raise the
necessary capital to service the bonds that have been
issued for this construction. The increase in the number
of students participating in visual and performing
arts and the lack of adequate space for these and
other special events demonstrates that converting
the building into a Performing Arts Center & Chapel
is the optimal choice for this space. This state of the
art facility will be used for a wide range of activities
benefiting the entire student body and faculty, as well
as our alumni and surrounding communities.
This project would not be possible without the
continued support of our current stakeholders, alumni
and community members. We invite you to be a part
of this exciting endeavor through your prayers and
financial contributions. With your support in the Many Dreams, One Vision
capital campaign, we can fulfill the dream of making the Tipton-Rosemark
Academy Performing Arts Center & Chapel a reality.
