The genius of generosity Kansas pastor Jack Wellman has been credited with the insight that “there is a certain genius in generosity.” He explains that when we open our hands — figuratively speaking — to allow something to pass through our fingers, ra- ther than holding it with tightly clenched fists, God can give us new bless- ings. “God cannot pour more into hands that are already clinging tightly to what they hold,” says Wellman. Whether material goods or time, ideas or talents, money or energy, the gifts God has given us so generously are to be shared just as freely with others. With our hands continually open to receive, give and receive again, God’s genius cycle of generosity goes on and on. Here is a short list of things that I am thankful for; -I am thankful for God showing His love for me by dying for my sins. -I am thankful that God initiated a relationship with me and saved me. -I am so thankful that God equips me to serve Him/His Church. -I am thankful for the love, support, and partnership of my wife. -I am thankful that my children are loving, respectful, and seeking to live for Jesus. -I am thankful to work with such a Spirit-gifted, dedicated staff that are more like family. -I am thankful to serve Christ alongside so many amazing Christ followers at UBC. -I am thankful that people are pouring into me, and allowing me to pour into them. -I am thankful that God is bringing new people into our church to help us grow. -I am thankful for the volunteers at UBC, knowing that God will grow this group even more. -I am thankful that God has planted us in Union to live, serve, and minister. -I am thankful that UBC is growing in our commitment to reach Union and beyond. -I am thankful that God is continuing to teach me, grow me, and prepare me for what is ahead. -I am thankful that God provides for our church and my family in ways that I cannot com- prehend. -I am thankful for our health, our country, our freedom, and the hope we have in Christ. -Lastly, I am thankful that our needs dont overwhelm our God (Philippians 4:19). This must not be our only thankful season, but I realize it is a time when we focus on it more. I challenge you to write out an I am thankful for...list. I challenge you to share it with your family, friends, and even your church family. Thankfulness affirms in our hearts all that God has done, all that He is doing, and all that He has yet to do. The genius of generosity Kansas pastor Jack Wellman has been credited with the insight that “there

is a certain genius in generosity.” He explains that when we open our hands —

figuratively speaking — to allow something to pass through our fingers, ra-

ther than holding it with tightly clenched fists, God can give us new bless-

“God cannot pour more into hands that are

already clinging tightly to what they hold,”

says Wellman. Whether material goods or

time, ideas or talents, money or energy, the

gifts God has given us so generously are to

be shared just as freely with others. With

our hands continually open to receive, give and

receive again, God’s genius cycle of generosity

goes on and on.

Honored leaders of this years’ trip are Pat Durham, Susan For-man and Peggy Sorrell. Thank you ladies! It is time to think “Christmas” and we have our plans in place for a successful holiday trip. We still need toys, teen gifts, and parent gifts. So, if you see toys on clearance or an item that would be perfect for one of the teens, or you see a great clearance item for moms or dads, pick it up!
