“We beheld the Angel, holding a chalice in his le hand with the Host suspended above it, from which some drops of blood fell into the chalice. Leaving the (Host and) chalice suspended in the air, the Angel lay prostrate on the ground beside us and made us repeat three mes:”
“Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of the
same Son, Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for all the
sacrileges, outrages, and indifference by which He Himself is offended.
And through the infinite merits of His most Sacred Heart, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of
poor sinners.”- The Angel of Fama

“For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” - MATTHEW 11:30 When we think of being good stewards, we may think that God is asking too much of us when He calls us to generously share our time, talent and treasure. However, we must remember that we are not “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has given us. All He is asking is that we give back a small portion of what He has already given to us.

As President Dwight Eisenhower said, “it is well for us to pause, to acknowledge our debt to those who pay so large a share of free-dom’s price”. As we stand in grateful remembrance of their contri-buons, we invite you to thank these men and women for keeping us safe through their heroism and efforts. Today, say a special pray-er for them, their families and loved ones. Be sure to take the me to say “thank you”, or give a warm handshake to an acve duty soldier or veteran. Most especially, please remember to pray for:

Plenary Indulgence FATIMA, Portugal
Our Lady of Fama For the 100th anniversary of the apparions of Our Lady of Fa-ma in Portugal, Pope Francis has decided to grant a plenary indulgence opportunity throughout the enre anniversary year, which began November 27, 2016, and will end November 26, 2017. To obtain the plenary indulgence, the faithful must also fulfill the ordinary condions:
Go to confession and Communion, be interiorly detached from sin,
and pray for the Holy Father.
Those seeking an indulgence must also pray an Our Father, re-cite the Creed, and invoke Our Lady of Fama. These individu-als can pray in front of a statue of Our Lady of Fama and must spiritually unite themselves to the jubilee celebraons on the days of the apparions, the 13th of each month, between May and October 2017. They also must “offer to merciful God with confidence, through Mary, their prayers and sufferings or sacri-fices they make in their own lives”.

Sacrament of the Sick Anoinng of the Sick
In the Church’s Sacrament of Anoinng of the Sick, through the min-istry of the priest, it is Jesus who touches the sick to heal them from sin – and somemes even from physical ailment. His cures were signs of the arrival of the Kingdom of God, and the core message of His healing tells us of His plan to conquer sin and death by His dying and rising. The Rite of Anoinng is administered by a priest, who uses olive oil to anoint the paent’s forehead and, perhaps, other parts of the body, while recing certain prayers. It is believed to give comfort, peace, courage, and, if the sick person is unable to make a confession, even forgiveness of sins.
The Rite of Anoinng tells us there is no need to wait unl a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. A careful judgment about the serious nature of the illness is sufficient. When the Sacra-ment of Anoinng of the Sick is given, the hoped-for effect is that, if it be God’s will, the person be physically healed of illness. But even if there is no physical healing, the primary effect of the Sacrament is a spiritual healing by which the sick person receives the Holy Spirit’s gi of peace and courage to deal with the difficules that accompany serious illness or the frailty of old age.
Please call the Parish Office to schedule the Sacrament of Anoinng of the Sick for your family member or loved one, whether in the home or a local hospital/nursing facility, especially if that sick person is elderly. The Sacrament of Anoinng of the Sick may be accompa-nied by the Sacrament of Reconciliaon (confession), and Holy Communion may be offered, as well. If that person is in the hospital outside our local boundaries, you are encouraged to contact the Catholic Hospital Chaplain to arrange for a local priest to administer the Sacrament. Again, please do not wait to request a priest to visit. Call the parish office (732 679-5666) and we will promptly arrange for the Sacrament to be administered. Be sure to stress the immi-nence or dire circumstance, should that be the case, so that your loved one has the opportunity to be anointed before death occurs.
Lastly, it is not necessary to repeatedly anoint a person who is ill. God’s compassion and faithfulness remain with the sick person throughout his/her illness. It is always our intenon to provide con-sistent and grace-filled spiritual care for those who know well the suffering of Christ.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION OFFICE NEWS
Summer Hours: Monday – Thursday 9 AM – 1 PM
(Office is closed on Fridays and Carnival Week)
It has been a long tradition at St. Ambrose that our parish family has offered their time and talents. It is through caring, sharing and praying that our community has grown in love and support of one another. The success of our religious education program depends on the dedicated individuals in our parish willing to share their time, talents and faith with the future church, our parish children. We encourage all our parishioners, as well as parents of children in our program to help out in some way. We are always in need of catechists, classroom aides, substitute teachers, and hall monitors as well as parking lot directors who oversee the arrival and dismissal of our students. VIRTUS training and fingerprinting are mandated by the Diocese as well as teacher training. Qualifications of a Catechist: A catechist must be at least 18 years old, a practicing catholic in good standing who attends weekly Mass regularly, has a love for children, the desire to grow in faith and share that journey with young people, the ability to relate well to others, a sense of humor and flexibility, and a willingness to be of service to the Church. In order to meet the varied needs of the children of our Parish we are still in need of volunteers for September classes. Adults are asked to prayerfully consider the call to “Teach as Jesus Taught”. Please call the Religious Education Office at 732- 679-5580 for more information about volunteering for the children of St. Ambrose Parish. Additional Teachers are most needed for the following grades: Tuesday & Wednesday: 4:15 – 5:30 PM ~ Grades 3, 4, 5 & 6
Wednesday: 7:00 – 8:15PM ~ 6th Grade
Substitutes are always needed for Tuesday & Wednesday classes. High School Juniors and Seniors, please consider joining our PSR Staff as Aides and/or Tutorial Teachers. **New Teacher Training Sessions will begin in August. Sessions will cover: classroom management, lesson planning, how to use a teacher guide, and an overview of our program. *******************************************************
PSR RE-REGISTRATION & NEW REGISTRATION PSR Classes are formed for those families who have registered. If you still need to register your children please call or stop by the Religious Education Office. Registrations for New Families will be accepted with NO LATE FEE. * If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please call or stop by the Religious Education Office and we will be happy to assist you.
