An attractive retail and leisure destination that dominates its affluent local catchment
Eden Shopping
10 years
EDEN 10 YEARSThe Eden Shopping Centre has had a signifi cant impact on our town centre, helping to make High Wycombe a destination of choice rather than habit.
With its mix of quality retailers and eateries and leisure options the Centre ensures High Wycombe remains competitive against neighbouring towns and the ever-increasing infl uence of online shopping.
Eden opened on 12 March 2008 and propelled High Wycombe from 102nd in the UK’s top retail destinations to 44th virtually overnight, making Eden’s impact on the town proportionally greater than the arrival of the Bullring in Birmingham.
Ultimately, it allowed High Wycombe to fulfi ll its retail and leisure potential with retailers like Next increasing its size from 4,000 sq ft to 22,000 sq ft and M&S upgrading their presence from 40,000 sq ft to 104,000 sq ft.
House of Fraser also committed early to bring a £25 million, 140,000 sq ft store to rival its branch in nearby Reading. Ten years on, and Eden is thriving. Over 14 million shoppers visit each year spending £713 million on clothing and footwear and £595 million on food and beverages.
