As property becomes more valuable due to major improvements madethrough redevelopment investments, the increased value generates more

tax dollars in the “Tax Increment.” This tax increment goes to the Redevelopment Agency to meet bond obligations, pay for new projects and fund public schools and other agencies through pass‐throughs.

While the City of Milpitas recognizes that reforms to redevelopment can be helpful, ending the Milpitas Redevelopment Agency would mean the loss of not only millions in transfer funding but also put needed work on community betterment at risk.
