7.03 PolicymakingConflict #1 Iraq War (2002) Summarize the situation that brought us into the conflict President George W. Bushs verbal communication, points Iraq as an Axis of Evil. March 19, 2003 President Bush declares war on Iraq. Oct. 11, 2002 congress permits an attack on Iraq. Jan. 28, 2003 President Bush states that he is ready to attack Iraq. Conflict #2 Gulf War (1991) Disputes over Oil fabrication & debt payment.

Is this a "declared war"?

No, but nothing like the Iraq War, it was supported by the UNs powers & legal system. It was an Invasion on Mar. 19, 2003. President Bush thinks that Iraq Intends to take over Saudi Arabia & take control of the region & supplies.

How was Congress and the President involved in the conflict? How was the conflict resolved, or what was the outcome? Did the president overstep his authority legally and/or morally? What effect did this conflict have on global relations?

May 1st, 2003 the US. Ends the main combat operations. Yes, all diplomatic efforts end when President Bush gives a challenge to saddam Hussein to disappear from the country within 48hrs, or face a massive attack. Feb. 15, 2003 Massive peace show takes place around the world. The U.S, Britain & Spain submit a resolution; Iraq didnt take the final step. Jan. 16, 1991 Bush gets support for his position with the most devastating air assault in history against military targets in Iraq & Kuwait.

Allied & Iraq military leaders meet on battleground to settle terms for a formal end to the Gulf War. Yes, President Bush demands an extra 200,000 troops to get ready for any offensive attack by U.S led collection forces. The war helped OPEC get oil back on the market; it was able to give more oil around the world market. Keep prices low. The action known as Desert Shield, was to get rid of Iraq power from Kuwait & ensure that Iraq would not take over Saudi Arabia. Bush states that it wasnt a war for oil. The war made U.S lose resources, plus it benefited in terms of Oil resources.

What effect did this conflict have on the economy?

War in Iraq had harmful consequences in: Oil Prices & Uncertainty.

Write a paragraph that compares/contrasts the two conflicts you selected. Please go into some depth on the similarities and differences between the two conflicts. (10 points) One similarity between both conflicts was for power and Oil, even if the president said that the war wasnt meant to be for Oil, there is a desire to govern more. Thousands of solder were killed during the intensive wars. In both wars, United States was the first to invade or declare war over a country. In both war UN supported the decision of Bush for a war. A difference between wars is that the Iraq War is still fighting, even after several times the president has promised to bring back the troops. The war has affected deeply the economy of the U.S.
