Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wishes to

come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and

follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,

but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What

profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and

forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his

life? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his

Father's glory, and then he will repay everyone according

to his conduct. Amen, I say to you, there are some

standing here who will not taste death until they see the

Son of Man coming in his kingdom" (Matt. 16:24-28).

Collect Prayer: God of might, giver of every good gift, put into our

hearts the love of your name, so that, by deepening our

sense of reverence, and, by your watchful care, keep

safe what you have nurtured. Through our Lord Jesus

Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the

unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Special Thanks to Julia Jones for her donation to the First Communion Class.

The First Communion Class is still in need of a

39” wall mount bracket for their flat screen tv.

If you would like to donate one or toward the

cost of one, please contact the church office.

Why Should I Be An Altar Server?

You are recognized and looked upon as a special person of God, you

are a “role model” how others should act during Mass, you are one of

the greatest sources of graces, in assisting the Priest at the Sacred

liturgy. By your devout service and actions at the altar, it brings glory

to God and the cause of conversion to the faith to the one true Church (Excerpt from Fr Roland De La Rosa, Church of the Nativity, www.nativitystars.com)

The sign-up sheet is in the vestibule for new altar servers. We will

have an altar server workshop in September. We welcome all youth

that has had First Communion. Adults are welcomed and

encouraged to participate, especially for Saturday Vigil and 8:30

Masses. For more information, contact Kurt Sosa.

What if you were told Sacred Heart could raise over $5,000

without so much as a volunteered minute? That’s right,

nothing to sell, no meetings to attend, no family schedules

to juggle, and no time taken from work or family. How much

would that be worth to you??? A new fundraiser is on the

horizon that is set to begin next Saturday, September 9th. It

proves to be something that can fit into any schedule,

budget, and ability. Curious? Good! More information will be

made available next week.
