And as trying as cold, wet-weather riding can be, so too can riding in extremely hot conditions. We designed the Citadel™ collection as our premier ventilated riding gear. NINJAJust as racebikes progressed from backyard garage fabrication to the highly-honed competition bikes of the modern day, so have freestyle motor-cycles. Though rashed-up sportbikes can still be found inhabiting the lots and streets, a new class of 'stunt' bikes has emerged. As intricately set up as their race brethren, Britton's current bike sports the absolute latest in freestyle componentry. Starting from the contact patch up: a mix of Dunlop

Q2 front and D616 rear tires are chosen for their unique 'grip with controlled give' characteristics. Forged Marchesini wheels are used to reduce weight while Brembo rotors and calipers provide maximum stopping capability. All freestyle bikes require tank reshaping–Jason produces and sells his own completely custom tanks that have relocated fillers and scooped tops.

ZX6RModern freestyle bikes use a reshaped passen-ger seat with a large opening for foot placement. The passenger pegs are then replaced with a reinforced subcage. Low-profile crash cages and tucked subframe grind plate minimize damage when the bike is dropped, and the bike is always dropped. While the motor is left primarily stock, electronics are relocated or bypassed. This allows a stuntbike to run regardless of the myriad of

angles and positions in which it routinely finds itself. The frame itself can be left stock or, as many of the ICON team have done, the entire cast aluminum upper structure can be replaced with a steel tube trellis. This makes it easier to repair the inevitable crash damage. A host of other, more subtle modifications adapt the freestyle bike to its harsh life while enabling their riders to push the boundaries of physics.

NAVIGATING THE SAHARA VIA

SPORTBIKEWhile the ICON team is mostly known for their tarmac related activities, a few of our athletes get their kicks were the sidewalk ends. Julian Welsch is one such rider. Throwing on a used 17" paddle tire from our Portland-Dakar movie, Julian took his 2012 Speed Triple deep into the dunes of Morocco. Dehydration, bandits, and ornery camels where the least of his worries as soaring temperatures and unforgiving silt made for a truly challenging production. Watch the full video at:
