Brutal Bullies

By Callum Caldwell And Morgan Anniss

Bullying In General

Bullying is always a problem in schools around the world. The

teachers try to the end of their influential abilities to stop it in their

4

Page 5: 6to7

school for good. But, although they do obliterate bullying in some cases,

bullying is just a natural part of growing up in schools. Being bullied

changes you for life. Bullies rely on reactions to satisfy themselves,

things like crying, violence and any sort of negative behaviour can lead to

them being even more annoying and can lead the victim into a deep

depression if they are an older person. Depression can make the person

hate their life, have unexpected meltdowns and sometimes in common

cases commit suicide. Don’t give bullies satisfaction, then they should

ease off. The worst part of bullying is the beginning; you may be new to

bullying or you will not be used to this specific person’s acts. Getting

used to it so that you know what annoys and what pleases the bully.

Once you know, start doing the things that annoy him, most commonly

ignorance. Don’t give them satisfaction, then they will stop.

Remember, NO SATISFACTION But that’s the hard part, not giving the bullies satisfaction is

very very hard, but once you can do it. It’s easy.

 TRY IT!Statistics

46% of all children in the UK say they have been bullied at some point

in their life. However, 18% of these pupils and students never tell anyone

until it’s too late. 29% of all children were bullied in the academic year

2009-10. 55%of homosexuals and bisexuals are likely to be bullied in

school. Girls are more likely to be cyber-bullied than boys. 85% of all

5

Page 6: 6to7

students have witnessed bullying and an astonishing 82% intervene. 72%

of all bullying is violent and 3% of these involve weapons. 25% of all

people worry about bullying.

How to stop It

Bullying stops and limits you.

DHSB will deal with bullying. They will not stand still with this. Should

bullying happen, their Child Support Unit can deal with and provide

counselling for the victims of bullying.

Pressure

By Morgan Anniss

The pressure you get from being bullied is unbearable. Some of the

consequences are; failing a test, getting paranoid over something so

small and shouting at your friends. So tip number one: stay away from

people you don’t like, this will enable you not to shout or be shouted

at by other students. Tip two: you have to think is it bullying or

banter and tip three: if someone is bullying you tell an adult

immediately it is important to get it off your chest.

In these situations, tell someone, and only then, will you have won…

At Dhsb there will be a lot more chances to get involved in sport than at your

Not only will you have a lot more opportunities you will also have a lot better

chance of succeeding/Understanding in that sport so when you get older you

might want to give more things a chance.

At Devonport there will also be lots of extra-curricular activities for you to

get involved in for you stay for an hour after school maybe once or twice a

week.

There is also two lessons in school to get you involved in sport they are P.E And

Games in P.E you focus more on gymnastics and exercises whereas in games you

focus more on things like Football, Hockey, Cricket, Rugby and tennis and a few

more in the later years.

If you go for one of the extra-curricular sports after school you are not

guaranteed a place but you will most likely get in if you do get in there could

be a team for you to get in but there will have to be quite talented but even

if you don’t make the team you can still train and maybe one day you will make

the team.

Parental Guidance

By Callum Caldwell,

As a parent, you must be very proud of your son for getting in to Devonport

a lot of friends. Devonport can provide safety and will give your son the best

a Christian Union in Ingle 2 every Friday lunchtime. Your child will always find an

ideal club for him.

As a loving parent, you will always be wanting your son to be in on time. Here is a

website showing bus timetables for Plymouth City Bus:

You may even want him to walk to school, or get a lift. But whatever happens,

please remember that your sons safety is paramount to us here at DHSB. He

will be placed with people from his own school wherever possible and will be urged

on during year, whole school and house assemblies to make friends.

We do everything possible to make sure that your son loves his Devonport

Career.

If you have any concerns concerning your child’s safety or well being, please don’t

hesitate to get into contact with a member of staff.

Your son will be put into one of 6 houses: Campbell (Orange), Edison (Green),

Newton (Purple), Priestly (Yellow), Smeaton (Blue), Winstanley (Red). He will be

placed with members from his own school wherever applicable and will be given a

form tutor to help him as well as Peer Mentors.
