Previous knowledge of the students will be checked by asking these questions: What is the difference between present participle and gerund? What are the rules to use infinitive and participles? Give examples of some parts of speech. Teacher would explain with examples that some verbs have an irregular part where verbs don’t end with –d or –ed. Explain in detail that participles can be used with the words to form participle clauses Explain that the present and past participles can act as adjectives with examples Activity: Class discussion, oral drill Success Criteria: Remember to: Participles, gerunds and infinitives are formed with verbs Recall the rules of conversion of the participle from C.W: present to past Activity book pgs 9- 10 H.W: Activity book pgs 10-

Majority understood but few students from VIII-F,D,B were confused where to use an Infinitive and a

Gerund.

Students were explained to use infinitive for unreal situations and gerund for real ones with examples

and other rules on board.
