Immediately after the EasySIGN 2015 release, our focus shifted towards redeveloping the reliable foundation on which the EasySIGN software is built.

For most Windows users, an update to Windows 10 is available for free. As a result, many users have already updated their operating system to the latest version or are planning to do so soon.

Unsurprisingly, the current EasySIGN version offers full support for Windows 10.

New: Banner & PosterWith Banner & Poster, creating banners and (large format) posters is easier than ever. This intelligent feature help you minimizing human errors and saves you a tedious design process when adding grommets to your design.

Apply grommet holes in two simple steps and have your banner production ready in just a few seconds.

New: 64-bit supportThe information technology industry develops and innovates at high speed. In many cases, it is hard to notice the advantages.

This is also true for 64-bit support. Fortunately, it is not what it seems. With 64-bit support, EasySIGN 2016 can process significantly larger files and even quicker than before. Both 32-bit and 64-bit worksheets are interchangeable for optimal compatibility, provided that the file can be processed in 32-bit.

Moreover, this results in better integration with other 64-bit software applications like Adobe Creative Cloud en Corel Graphics Suite X7.

Import filters enhanced and extended with compression optionsThe import filters for both bitmap and vector images are extended.

More compression options for TIFF and JPEG images are now supported to enable better and faster processing of (larger) bitmap images.

Also, AI file import is optimized and supports a wider range of files.

Zünd-specific production lines for use on flatbed cutters with Zünd Cut CenterThe introduction of Zund-specific production lines offers a new way of interaction with Zünd flatbed cutters using Zünd Cut Center for job processing.

When design and preparation with EasySIGN’s user-friendly tools is finished, the worksheet can be exported for direct use in Cut Center or Cut Queue.

The Zünd software automatically recognizes the production lines for accurate and immediate job processing.

Caldera & Mimaki RasterLink 6 added to Third Party RIPIn addition to enhancements for Mimaki RasterLink 5 integration, two new RIP software options are added to Third Party RIP.

EasySIGN now offers native support for Caldera’s RIP software and Mimaki RasterLink 6. This guarantees that the right settings will be used when your prepared EasySIGN worksheet is being processed by your favorite printing software.

Nodes calcultation optimized for rounded cornersIn some cases, node placement was incorrect when rounding corners. This issue has been resolved.

Support enhanced and extended for Summa machines with OPOS CamThe latest Summa S Class S2 T-series cutting plotters with OPOS Cam are now supported in the EasySIGN software.

Expanded Third Party RIP SupportDirect links have been added to the EasySIGN Third Party RIP (Raster Image Processor).

Now you can also send files directly from your EasySIGN software to Onyx Thrive, Onyx Productionhouse and EasySIGN legacy version Print Server V5. The external RIP’s production specifications can be entered within EasySIGN’s Third Party RIP output dialog.

Improved Import filtersThe AI, EPS and PDF import filters within the EasySIGN software have been improved greatly. Now EasySIGN automatically selects the best available import filter. This results in a faster and more reliable file import. On top of that, it now is even more user friendly. Importing files is made easier as you now can copy & paste or drag & drop files into EasySIGN.

New production toolbar: Line TypesA time saving production feature to reduce your design time. Make your design production ready with one single mouse click by using the EasySIGN Line Type Toolbar.

Transparent Soft Drop ShadowCreate high quality smooth shadows for your printed designs in just a few steps.

With the new EasySIGN soft drop shadow feature you can easily create a transparent shadow with soft edges.

Adjusted Job Info setting Keep track of the production steps of your worksheet. EasySIGN registers the customer details, designing time and output of your worksheets.

This will help you with the job calculations and creates a consistent output with repeat orders.

WeedbordersThe ease-of-use of the EasySIGN Weedborders has been improved. Besides new settings in the Weedborder feature, the menu ‘Plot’ will indicate when only a weedborder is selected by showing a pop-up dialog.

Improved support for network plottersMany customers are using EasySIGN on multiple computers in a network environment and prefer to plot directly to a shared plotter.

You can now use a COM-port connected plotter in a network by creating a virtual Windows printer. Now this feature is also compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems.

Non-zero winding ruleIn software like Illustrator™ and CorelDraw™ it is possible to choose between ‘Non-zero winding rule’ and ‘Even–odd rule’ to determine how objects are filled. To improve compatibility with these programs EasySIGN has implemented the ‘Non-zero winding rule’ besides the currently used default ‘Even–odd rule’.

The two filled objects in the example image are identical (see the wireframe representation below the filled objects), but the left object uses the ‘Even–odd rule’ while the right object uses the ‘Non-zero winding rule’.

BinarizationTo be able to, for example, engrave/laser a photo in a medallion or glass or sandblast a photo in a monument, this photo needs to be brought back to two colors namely black and white. The method to bring back a photo to two colors (black and white) is called Binarization.

EasySIGN Binarization is a toolset specially developed for, amongst others, the laser and engraving/sandblast industry. This toolset is suited for every branch that needs a black and white image as input.

Import/export transparency (bèta)EasySIGN can now import basic transparency from PDF files. Also the export of supported transparency has been improved.

Advanced importThe advanced import has a new option called ‘Crop to’. This option will let you crop the artwork to various special boxes that are available within the PDF file format. This way you can import a file as bitmap and use the Cropbox to reduce the bitmap size to the artwork as present in the file, instead of having to use the entire page format of the PDF file.The Advanced import dialog also shows a new and better preview. Further the anti-aliasing of bitmaps within the Advanced Import filter has also been improved.

Bitmap manipulations‘Apply cropping’ and ‘Size image’ can now also be used on bitmaps with an alpha channel.

Add spot colorA new and very easy method to add a custom spot color.

Align positioning cropmarksEasySIGN now has the possibility to align the Alignment cropmarks to a selection on the worksheet. You can also set a margin for the alignment.

Closed cropmarksA new and improved type of cropmark object has been added. This cropmark object is not dependent on the cropmark layer, doesn’t show unnecessary information in the plot dialog when plotting by color and is compatible with other software.

Cropmark effectA new effect that groups selected objects together and adds cropmarks to the group. You have the choice between ‘Print cropmarks’, ‘Plot cropmarks’ and ‘Inverted cropmarks’. The cropmarks can have negative of positive margins and a lot more options. Also the cropmarks are compatible with other software.

Spot colors as special linesIt is now also possible to import hairlines as special lines using spot colors. Create a spot color and in the ‘Settings dialog’ under the tab ‘Import’ assign this spot color to the desired special line.

Export transparency (PDF)When exporting to PDF, bitmaps with an Alpha channel keep that Alpha channel and are no longer flattened.

Third Party RIP SettingsIt is now possible to choose between the default automatic settings or manually add Hot Folders. This can be very handy with a network setup for your Hot Folders.

Third Party RIP Print dialogThe Third Party RIP has been extended with lots of useful options that will help you to obtain the best possible result with a Print or Print & Cut workflow.

Third Party RIP help fileA new help file about the Third Party RIP support, how to manage Print and Print & Cut workflows and how to handle color management has been added.

Third Party RIP without a RIP or printerYou now can use the ‘Third Party RIP’ support even when you outsource your print work.

Overprint supportEasySIGN now supports Overprint features. Objects that have an Overprint Fill or Overprint Line property assigned to them will keep that property when exported to or imported from PDF, EPS and AI. A) The circle has no Overprint. B) The circle has Overprint applied. 1) The design as displayed in design software. 2) The black film for the red color. 3) The black film for the yellow color. 4) The printed result.

Convert to color spaceConverts all selected objects to the color space RGB or CMYK. When working with Print, or Print & Cut workflows it is essential to have the objects on your worksheet in the same color space.

Create Boundary or Outline shapeCreates a new shape based on the boundary or the outline of selected object(s). This shape can, for example be used to print white in a print workflow.

Plot preview in production managerEasySIGN now shows a preview in the Production Manager which makes it easier to recognize the jobs you have plotted. With color separated jobs the color is also shown and even special lines will be displayed.

Font ManagerManage your fonts directly within EasySIGN. Make font selections based on ‘TTF/OpenType’, ‘TYPE1/ATM’, ‘SFN’, ‘ROMAN’, ‘SWISS’, ‘SCRIPT’, ‘DECORATIVE’ and many more. Easily search a font and apply it directly to the selected characters. The Font manager is linked to the text editor and therefore easy accessible. Every selected font can be added to the Font Favorites dialog together with a custom description. Instead of using the Font combo to find a font, just use the Font Manager with quicker access, easier search method and full preview of the selected font.

Font FavoritesAdd any selected font in the Font Manager to a list of favorites. You can change the name of the font (original name is shown when selected) and add comments. In the Font favorites dialog you can sort the displayed favorites on name and comments. When you select a font within this dialog a preview of the selected font is shown.

Border objectA new object with corners that can be set independent from each other. Each corner can have a different radius and corner type.

Insert charactersThe ‘Insert characters’ dialog now shows all characters as available within the font.

Distribute object(s) along pathSelect one or more objects and distribute them along a path as many times as you need. By using the properties dialog you can set the number of duplicates.

The next section is for people with a version 5 or older. This section will give you an overview of what you get when updating your old software to Release 2014.
