Accenture is looking to change the way we interact with each other and with our government agencies. The company has opted to be a Platinum Sponsor of this year’s GITEX Technology week, and for good reason. “This is the most important convention in the world,” says Dr. Khalid Al-Yahya, Managing Director of Management Consulting, Middle East. “Here, we can see what is happening and also share what we have done.”

Zebra... Accenture changes how citizens interact

Big Data is huge for Accenture, and may mean a drastic change in the way citizens interact. “We have already seen a great deal of success in cities like London,” says Al-Yahya. “We have been able to improve efficiency in areas such as water and power consumption in those cities and we hope to bring those kinds of improvements to the Middle East, a region that needs to be conscious of how we consume.”

The Middle East region, says Al-Yahya, is at a crossroads. Accenture will continue their work with local governments, and in all sectors in the region, to ensure it takes the correct path.

operating system where users can effortlessly integrate and managed their devices with printing solutions. The operating system is on display at the event.

“Zebra is committed to providing innovative technologies from smart printers to real-time tracking technologies to help organisations gain better visibility into their operations, in the Middle East,” says Kajaria “Through Link-OS, we are providing to the region the means to integrate our printers into a rapidly evolving cloud-based wireless world with an ever increasing number of smart devices.”

Nearly 50 percent of the company’s business is done through the channel with its tier-1 systems integrator partners in the region.

The company is doing much more than sitting back and taking in the show, to be sure. On October 14th at the conference on Big Data, Nick Millman shared the findings from a recent Accenture survey to illustrate the ways in which organisations are driving value from Big Data. The focus of the presentation was on case studies demonstrating the critical success factors when implementing Big Data as well as value that can be realised when Big Data projects are successful. Millman also shared some of his personal experiences from working across multiple industries in the area of Big Data.

TP-LINK Technologies has announced it has increased its sales revenue by 30 percent in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) from January to September 2014 compared with the same period last this year.

TP-LINK revealed this at GITEX Technology Week 2014, where it is exhibiting several networking and wireless products as part of its brand awareness campaigns in MENA.

According to the vendor, the company’s sales increase has been achieved despite some markets in the region experiencing political instability.

Speaking at GITEX Technology Week, Jason Xu, TP-LINK's Vice President of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, said, "This year we have witnessed an increase in our revenue by 30 percent despite the fact that some countries have been experiencing political turmoil."

Xu said the company plans to open an office in KSA and later in South Africa. "We will be opening our new office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It's in process now and we

expect it to be ready in three or four months," he said.

Xu added that the company has three staff in Saudi Arabia and hopes to increase this to about 20 after the new office opens. "In the UAE, we started with three staff and currently have more than 30 employees sitting in the Dubai office handing the regional office," he said.

He explained that TP-LINK sees huge potential in Saudi Arabia and the whole MENA region as governments continue to roll out new IT infrastructure projects, growing population and economy, and increased bandwidth penetration. "As more people get connected to the Internet, this is fuelling demand for robust wireless networking solutions, which TP-LINK is providing in the market," he said.

Xu said TP-LINK already has a strong presence in MENA. The company, which was founded in 1996, is best known for its wireless routers and ADSL modems, which Xu describes as "hot items" in the Middle East at the moment.

based on simplicity and choosing the right people to help the company progress. “When we started, we always knew it was key to get the right personnel through the door,” he says. “Relationships are everything in the Middle East, and we needed people who understood the complexities and nuances of the region.”

He goes on to highlight how diversity is key to his operation, “I’ve hired Jordanians, Palestinians, Egyptians, Syrians and Eritreans because they all bring something different to the table,” Ogden says. “What’s key is for my team, and customers, to have an early adoption mentality.”
