In terms of trends, Tayan says, “The use of mobile devices and the overall mobile market in the Middle East is buoyant and we see that continuing. We also see a good appetite for our cloud solutions.”

GITEX is a great platform for the vendor to visit customers and partners in a condensed format. “We have been able to talk to existing customers as well as potential new ones. GITEX has become an important event and we also have senior management attending the event this year,” he adds.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai visited the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion at GITEX, where he witnessed the latest ICT innovations that are being developed in the capital. His Highness also experienced the Abu Dhabi Services app which was launched.

In an effort to strengthen the UAE’s capital’s integration of public services through world-class customer engagement, the Abu Dhabi e-Government launched the ‘Abu Dhabi Services’ platform; a state of the art smart device gateway app comprising of more than 1,100 governmental services covering key smart service sections.

Abu Dhabi Services was launched by His Excellency, Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Member of the Executive Council and Chairman of Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) during an interactive live demonstration by the Abu Dhabi System and information Centre (ADSIC) Director General; His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori . The live demo was followed by a press conference for visiting members of the media held by ADSIC’s DG, on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week 2015, where 24 Government entities from the UAE’s capital are currently showcasing the latest ICT innovations and smart solutions to visitors from around the world.

Commenting on the launch

to members of the media following a live demonstration of the new gateway, ADSIC’s Director General; His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori said, “The Abu Dhabi e-Government continually aims to provide innovative and world-class services that benefit its end-users through digital transformation by providing convenient, safe and easily-accessible smart solutions, and the launch of Abu Dhabi Services is an integral step towards achieving this objective, as it will serve as a fully rounded gateway through mobile phones and tablets.”

Classified based on the service’s themes and related sectors, key features of the ‘Abu Dhabi Services’

gateway include special designs and standards based on customer’s needs on the individual and business-level to facilitate and enhance their satisfaction, strong technical and logistic support by the Government entities involved, in addition to quick and user-friendly comprehensive topic information..

Available on the Google Play Store and Apple Store for smart phones and tablets, key sectors covered by ‘Abu Dhabi Services’ include healthcare, education, immigration, residency, family affairs, housing and property, culture and entertainment, tourism, transportation, traffic matters, environment, legal affairs, employment and public safety, among others.

Passing by the FVC booth in Zabeel Hall causes passers-by to stop and stare. There, in the Polycom RealPresence Immersive Studio provides a

video conferencing experience so detailed in both audio and visual, it makes the user question its validity. The team on the screen, however, proves that they are in London by showing potential customers wet umbrellas and freshly printed newspapers. The experience extremely similar to being in the same room.

K.S. Parag, Managing Director of FVC knows, however, that Unified Communications is only part of the picture. “The current challenges in the economy – low oil prices and more – present opportunity. We are finding opportunity in crisis,” he says. The company, he says, needs to offer solutions that include security and network offerings. Recently,

the Value Added Distributor has beefed up its IT infrastructure and security portfolio with Jatheon Technologies – the first in the industry to introduce a network email archiving appliance that simplifies email and information archiving, indexing, retrieval and dynamic monitoring of corporate email and messaging data.

The company has also revealed new vendor partners, expanding its ecosystem here in the region, including a brand new partnership with Extreme Networks. “GITEX is a perfect time for to connect with partners and showcase new offerings,” says Parag. The company has been participating in GITEX year on year, and will be back next year, he assures

Spectrami is presenting its vendors which include LogRhythm, Fidelis Cybersecurity Solutions, Tenable, Xceedium, Good Technology, Violin Memory and Actifio. “We are also featuring two of our recently signed

vendors namely A10 Networks and Red Hat, which we have signed here at GITEX,” says Anand Choudha, Managing Director, Spectrami.

“GITEX is a very important event for us,” he says. “Since the inception of our company five years ago, we have always believed in the numerous benefits that the event can bring to us. We get to connect with the whole ecosystem of vendors, resellers, channel partners and customers across the region.”

According to Choudha, Spectrami is always eyeing on partnering with niche and specialised technologies.

He underlines that they operate around a vendor extension model, which means that they act as vendors themselves here in the region. We can assist in pre- and post- sales activities and implementation services. “However, we are 100 percent a channel company. We help our partners in developing new opportunities in and that is primary focus. We believe that our unique model can help us customise our strategy as per the vendors’ requirement and the same time give the best value for customers.”

Our partnership with Spectrami has been very instrumental in terms of extending our reach in these markets. forum for us to meet our regional customers and partners at a single location and share our company’s vision, resources and product roadmap with them.
