Fortinet...3810D, the newest offering from the FortiGate line is the first and only firewall appliance with 100GbE interfaces and 300+ Gbps throughput. Fortinet has created this product with large scale enterprises in mind and says it will meet the stringent performance and connectivity demands of next generation high-speed data centres.

“The need for security in the region is growing,” says Panel, “and Fortinet is going to be a part of this region for the long-term. We want to ramp up our partnerships here.” Fortinet will certainly be a part of Gitex in the next year. “Our story with the Middle East is only just beginning,” says Penel. With personnel expansion in the region as well as

exclusive announcements coming from the company at Gitex, it would seem that Fortinet is keen to establish a strong base in the region.

The security space has undergone a massive shift over the years and is an important element for businesses, especially in the Middle East region. Trevor Dearing, EMEA Marketing Director, Gigamon, says, “We have seen a huge growth in security analytics and that is different from the traditional security that we get from firewalls and physical devices. Today we are identifying aspects that are happening in the network which could be a potential threat. We work with a number of companies who are focused in this area such as Imperva.”

The second aspect the company is highlighting at the ICT event is the growth of virtualisation. Dearing says, “Growth of VMware creates challenges when you are trying to secure your environment and also

when you are trying to monitor the virtualised environments. We are heavily involved with VMware in solving those types of issues.”

Gigamon has been participating at the event for the last three years and finds it an ideal platform to network with customers and partners. The vendor has also recently opened an office in the UAE earlier in the year to better support their partners and customers. “We work with Arrow closely and support them, they are our main distributors for the whole region. We have three people based in Dubai, by having people physically on ground, we can offer better support.”

The company’s main target markets are in UK, France, Germany, Middle East and Russia.

growth happening this year as well. GITEX has always been an encouraging platform for us and we have been able to connect and network with many of our existing customers and partners as well as prospective ones.”

According to Choudha, these five days of the event offers an immense opportunity for the company to also connect with the senior management from the vendors. “Our stand is 35 percent bigger than last year and we have many of our vendors showcasing their solutions with us. ZTE unveils Smart City solutions

Global Distribution announces P3 membership

ZTE, one of the leading telecoms in China, is no longer a newcomer to Gitex. On this, its third year at the conference, the telecom has a booming presence and striking booth, as well as a number of attractions to tempt customers and interested parties into their stand.

“We can easily see that Gitex is the most important show in the region,” says Evan Wang, President, Middle East region, Sales Division II, ZTE. “Perhaps Europe, Asia and the US have their events, but Gitex is clearly the most important here and perhaps in the top three in the world.” In that vein, ZTE is bringing a big show this year to the conference.

This year, ZTE has turned its sites onto the emerging Smart City initiatives. “A few years ago, when we first came to Gitex, people were talking about Smart Cities,” recalls Wang, “but they were only addressing small pieces of the concept. Now, with Dubai’s Smart City initiative, we are looking at the whole picture.” Wang surmises that in prior discussions, the ideas were ‘vertical’ – in that the city was looking at individual things that could be ‘turned on’. “Now,” he says, “we are thinking about a Smart City in a horizontal way.”

Also, recalls Wang, vendors and governments alike were only ‘trying out’ solutions for Smart Cities in the past. “This year, the possibility of a Smart City has become a reality,” says Wang. As for ZTE’s involvement with Dubai’s vision of a Smart City, the company plans to showcase its Smart City solutions, including M-ICT technology for public security, public transportation and the data centre this week at Gitex.

“In my opinion,” says Wang, “ZTE will be a part of Gitex for a long time to come. As long as there is Gitex, and as long as there is ZTE, I believe we will be here.”

FVC has signed an agreement as the exclusive distributor for the Middle East by Ashton Bentley, a UK manufacturer of Video Conference, Telepresence and

Presentation environments. As part of their appointment, FVC will work with Ashton Bentley on all their existing projects in UAE and Oman, while working to build

the other markets, especially in the GCC. FVC will show Ashton Bentley’s Boardroom solutions in the Middle East for the first time at Gitex this week on Stand Z-G10 in Zabeel Hall.

Under the agreement, FVC will add Ashton Bentley products into its Executive Briefing centres in Dubai and Riyadh as well as educate the reseller channel and the corporate end users about these systems. Plans are being discussed for the roll out of ‘mobile’ demonstration units that will enable on-site customer evaluation.

K.S. Parag, Managing Director for FVC, said, “With FVC’s strength of our existing line-up, we are looking to enhance the overall customer experience where our

video conference offerings can now be enhanced with superb displays, audio and control by integration with an Ashton Bentley system. The line-up of solutions offered by Ashton Bentley fits well with our portfolio and we are quite keen to share this development with our partners and customers.”

Tony Leedham, Director of Business Development for Ashton Bentley, stated “We are delighted to partner with FVC to bring our solutions to the region. We have spent considerable resources to ensure that video conferencing technology is maximised when integrated into our room environments, so working alongside one of best channel development companies is very exciting.”

Amitego AG scouts around for partners

Bitdefender eyes enterprise market

Amitego AG, an Oracle Gold Partner in Europe and Latin America, has decided to explore business expansion opportunities in the Middle East and Africa region during Gitex 2014.

Amitego is working with Dremmwel MEA to evaluate its entry into the Middle East market. The two companies will be working with local Oracle management to help Amitego develop strong partnerships with integrators and resellers representing HP, IBM and other key hardware vendors.

Amitego is specialized in bespoke solutions to manage and control the access of privileged users to

Bitdefender, best known for its anti-virus suite, is foraying into the enterprise market with GravityZone, the company’s newer security management solution spanning virtual,

datacenter environments where security of accessing data must be ensured at the highest standard.

Gerd Simon, Managing Director for Amitego AG, said, “In this age of Internet, with an increasingly distributed, mobile workforce, an assortment of end devices, corporate acumens and data are prone to ever greater risks and requirements. We offer worldwide support 24x7 for our solution. We looking for partners who work with their customers to train them and deliver a service which is as reliable as possible.”

With a strong background working with Sun and then Oracle, Amitego

offers solutions based on Oracle secure global desktop (OSGD) software as a virtual gateway between workstations and datacenters that validates and assess all the information going through it towards the users at helm. The company developed a software to enable secure, user-friendly provision of applications and data possible via any network. It also provides standardization and integration of heterogeneous client environments with a consistent central access management. This access is made transparent and documented based on user level.

larger number of endpoints, GravityZone can be scaled with ease thanks to its virtual container architecture. What’s more, it offers the same level of performance as our classic line of products. Within virtual environments, this solution consumes very less resources and yet provides high levels of security with the least impact on performance,” says Mihai Guran, Regional Operations Sales Director, Bitdefender.

Bitdefender offers two deployment options for GravityZone – either on-premise or cloud. The company says it can protect any number of laptops, desktops, embedded

devices and servers by using antimalware technology, combines with two-way firewall, intrusion detection and application control capabilities.

Guran says what sets Bitdefender apart from the competition is its track record. “We have 350 developers based in Romania, our home base, and we have been consistently rated as the best performing AV solution with the highest detection rates for the last three years by independent labs. We are hoping to build on the success we have had in the consumer market and grab a larger chunk of the enterprise market.”
