Review sessions or seminars but are diligently work- ing at confirming excellent speak- ers with current management top- ics and arranging the reviews. Our most pressing activity until May 2008, is preparing, organizing and executing the activities of ISM’s International Conference that will be held in St. Louis, on May 4-7, 2008. ISM – St. Louis is fortunate to be getting this fantastic opportuni- ty to showcase our affiliate and St. Louis. At each conference, ISM engages the local affiliate to assist with the conference. All across the country ISMaffiliate Boards are welcomingnew members to their ranks, andevery summer ISM holds Leader-ship Training Workshops to trainand develop new board membersand those taking on a new rolewithin their Board.

St. Louis was chosen this yearto host the first workshop on June22nd and 23rd at the SheratonWestport Lakeside Chalet. About120 participants from all over theUnited States gathered to learnmore about leadership, Board ofDirector responsibilities, and thetasks in their particular role. Thetwo days were a great develop-ment opportunity for our Boardmembers, and are a benefit ofserving on an ISM affiliate board.Several of our board membersattended the session, and others

will travel to the other two work-shops held in Las Vegas and Balti-more this year. Our affiliate washonored to win one of the “SpiritAwards” for the most outgoing

and spirited affiliates! MartyRutkovitz attended the Las Vegasworkshops and also received a“Spirit Award” for ISM St. Louisthere also!

The St. Louis affiliate tookthe opportunity to promote theISM 93rd International Confer-ence that will be held May 4-7,2008. Many of the participants ofthe leadership workshops enjoyeda night at a Cardinal’s game, ashow at the Muny or a great din-ner out and are looking forwardto returning next year to continueto explore St. Louis!

the 2007 St. Louis Supply Man-ager Award at the May 22, 2007dinner meeting. This award is thehighest honor that ISM – St.Louis bestows on an individual.

The honor goes to an individ-ual who has:

• Demonstrated leadership,both in the Association and in thesupply management field

• Provided outstanding serviceto the Association and to the sup-ply management field

• Made contributions for theadvancement of supply manage-ment as a profession

Throughout the past year,Julie has demonstrated all theseattributes and contributions.When our members voted tochange our name from NAPM –St. Louis to ISM – St. Louis,Julie took the lead to facilitate afive-year strategic plan. She alsocreated a policy and proceduresmanual and revised the Bylawsall within a tight time frame inorder to meet ISM national dead-lines.

Additionally, Julie has pre-sented interesting topics at severalpre-dinner member meetings,secured various speakers andteaches supply chain managementat SLU which elevates our statusas a professional organization andcontributes to the understandingof supply management as profes-sion.

The nominating process con-sists of a selection committee that

reviews nominations from ourmembers to select a worthy can-didate.

Julie’s professional career hasincluded 20 years at Procter andGamble in several manufacturingmanagement roles, includingprocess engineer, production andquality assurance, as well as pur-chasing and supply chain man-agement. Julie has a BS from theUniversity of Missouri – Colum-bia and M.B.A. from the Univer-sity of Missouri – St. Louis. Julierecently left P & G to start herown supply management consult-ing firm SupplyWise Consultingand is teaching in the St. LouisUniversity Consortium for SupplyManagement Studies.

Julie is married to Bob andhas two sons, Bobby andMatthew. The Wulff’s reside inBallwin.

Julie joined ISM – St. Louisis 2003. Since becoming theDirector of Professional Develop-

ment in 2004, Julie has been veryactive in ISM – St. Louis. Cur-rently she is the President Electand will be the President in 2009.In addition to being an activemember and volunteer in St.Louis, Julie is the Chair of Pro-grams for ISM’s General Confer-ence Committee. Julie’s role asthe Program Chair is workingwith the Permanent ConferenceCommittee of ISM national, toevaluate and select all presenta-tions presented at the St. LouisConference in 2008.

ISM – St. Louis is fortunateto have Julie as an active mem-ber. Her experience, leadershipand dedication to the professionand organization are true assets.

What is your role at work andwhat kind of activities are youinvolved in?I am lead buyer at Diagraph,which is a 110-year-old ITW com-pany that is a marking, coding andlabeling manufacturer/distributorlocated in the Missouri ResearchPark at Weldon Springs in St.Charles County. Responsibilitiesinclude:

• Purchasing responsibilities,negotiating, supplier relations

• Management of direct reportsin purchasing andshipping/receiving

• Management of Supplier Per-formance Program

reviewing processes under ourVIPER Continuous Improve-ment Program

• Backup to Production Manager

What do you do for fun?Spending time with family/friends,movies (especially independentfilms), antiquing and flea market-ing. I attend a lot of area musicaltheater productions and am a mem-ber of StageHands, the volunteergroup of Stages St. Louis. I havebeen involved in the Miss Mis-souri/Miss America Organizationfor 17 years and currently amexecutive director of the MissGateway St. Louis / Miss Gatewayto the West Scholarship Program,and also serve as a field directorfor Miss Missouri, covering theeast-central region of the state.Have just became refocused at thegym and if I don’t do a cycling/spinning class four days a week Ifeel completely out of kilter!

of this year, Missouri’s BusinessConditions Index declined. TheBusiness Conditions Index dippedto 62.4 from May’s 66.2. Compo-nents of the overall index fromthe June survey were new ordersat 70.8, production at 68.1, deliv-ery lead time at 44.6, inventoriesat 66.7, and employment at 54.1.The downturn in June was fueledby slower growth in durable-andnondurable-goods producers,especially food processors. How-ever, this weakness was morethan offset by expansions invalue-added computer systemsdesign and non-residential con-struction.
