Once a week, we visit with the residents at the Pines Assisted Living Home in Prairie du Sac and help with a designated activity time. Working with Arlene Sykora, Activities Director for the Pines, we’re able to build relationships with the residents while giving them opportunities to socialize and be active. Each week is different as we help facilitate active games, board games, happy hour, and arts and crafts days. With our help, the Pines has been able to broaden the amount and variation of activities they can offer to their residents. Sykora says, “There’s so much I couldn’t do without the help, like working one-on-one with the residents during craft day. It makes such a difference to have the support and the residents look forward to the visit every week.” We meet every Tuesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the activity room at the Pines, located at 1050 Prairie St in Prairie du Sac. Our jobs can range from setting up pins for a bowling game, playing cards, or helping with crafts such as pumpkin painting or jewelry making. We always welcome more volunteers and would love to have you! If you’re interested in joining us, please contact Heather at (608) 354-6048 or [email protected]. You will be responsible for leading in such a way that transforms communities with and for Jesus Christ by making service personal and helping individuals discover and share their gifts. You will have the opportunity to build and develop relationships with the community in Sauk Prairie and the other communities we serve. Each intern's ultimate responsibility is to ensure your program runs smoothly (before, during, and after each event) and that all the volunteers and clients have the best experience possible. The Intern should live in a simple manner, by their works and words that exemplify 6:8's four pillars of ser-vice: experience, education, exhortation, and embodiment. 6:8 has 5 Intern positions available:
