My Audience Profile Gender: male and female. I think my music video will appeal to both females and males. Although Trip Hop is a female dominated music genre heterosexual males will be attracted to the females, linking to Mulvey’s Male gaze theory and Goodwin’s ‘Star theory’, whereby female artists are often required by the record label to be sexy/ aesthetically appealing to men. Women will also relate to the female artist because of the lyrical content, which might be about love and stereotypically women are more sentimental. They might also aspire to be like the female artist. Age: Various, ranging from 17 and upwards. Predominantly people of University age. I think my music video could appeal to people of various ages, from the deviant teens and rebellious young adults to older people who are looking for something different. However, mainly young adults in University because of their philosophical viewpoint on life and music. The concepts and visuals of the music video aren’t necessarily something that will appeal to younger audiences of 12-16 whereby they are often more eager to conform, therefore they are more inclined to listen to mainstream music. Psychographic group: Lifestyle classification mode is explorer and reformer. Predominantly students in higher education. These categories include people who: are adventurous and also those who don’t like being restricted, have social awareness, are anti-materialistic, curious, support growth of new music genres and favour natural simplicity. This is more likely to be young people in higher education, as they often have a more open- minded attitude to alternative music genres such as Trip Hop. Media engagement: My audience engages with social media platforms such as: Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube where they might follow their favourite artist and their activity, i.e. the release of new albums/ concerts. Socio-economic group: B/C1 (professional, junior/intermediate managerial, supervisory or clerical) based on their parents’ occupation. However, a lot of university students themselves would fall in the E category as they are students, whilst students with jobs will fall into the E (for lowest grade earners) or D (labourers). Geographical Location: Mainly the UK, but also parts of Europe where they have a more experimental attitude towards alternative music genres, for example Sweden, Switzerland, Holland and Germany. I wouldn’t market my music video to an American audience as they are generally said to fall within the resigned/ mainstream psychographic profile.

My Audience Profile

Gender: male and female. I think my music video will

appeal to both females and males.

Although Trip Hop is a female dominated music genre

heterosexual males will be attracted to the females,

linking to Mulvey’s Male gaze theory and Goodwin’s

‘Star theory’, whereby female artists are often required

by the record label to be sexy/ aesthetically appealing

to men. Women will also relate to the female artist

because of the lyrical content, which might be about

love and stereotypically women are more sentimental.

They might also aspire to be like the female artist.

Age: Various, ranging from 17 and upwards.

Predominantly people of University age.

I think my music video could appeal to people of

various ages, from the deviant teens and rebellious

young adults to older people who are looking for

something different. However, mainly young adults in

University because of their philosophical viewpoint on

life and music. The concepts and visuals of the music

video aren’t necessarily something that will appeal to

younger audiences of 12-16 whereby they are often

more eager to conform, therefore they are more

inclined to listen to mainstream music.

Psychographic group:

Lifestyle classification mode is explorer and reformer.

Predominantly students in higher education. These

categories include people who: are adventurous and

also those who don’t like being restricted, have social

awareness, are anti-materialistic, curious, support

growth of new music genres and favour natural

simplicity. This is more likely to be young people in

higher education, as they often have a more open-

minded attitude to alternative music genres such as

Trip Hop.

Media engagement:

My audience engages with social media platforms such

as: Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube where

they might follow their favourite artist and their

activity, i.e. the release of new albums/ concerts.

Socio-economic group:

B/C1 (professional, junior/intermediate managerial,

supervisory or clerical) based on their parents’

occupation.

However, a lot of university students themselves would

fall in the E category as they are students, whilst

students with jobs will fall into the E (for lowest grade

earners) or D (labourers).

Geographical Location:

Mainly the UK, but also parts of Europe where they

have a more experimental attitude towards alternative

music genres, for example Sweden, Switzerland,

Holland and Germany. I wouldn’t market my music

video to an American audience as they are generally

said to fall within the resigned/ mainstream

psychographic profile.
