Çelebi Sponsorship Plaquette goes to ÇGH General ManagerKoray Özbay

Dear business partners,Çelebi Ground Handling, the flagship company of our group and our father Ali Cavit Çelebioğlu’s legacy, will be celebrating its 55th year in 2013…

This will be a celebration not just of our company, but also of our experience, of our dedication, of our teamwork, of our conviction, of our successful cooperation, of our combined synergies, and–first and foremost–of the collective affection and loyalty that is the defining attribute of the Çelebi work ethic.

We are proud…

Because we have kept the silent promises that we made to our parents…

Because for 55 years we have been allowed to march along the same path with you, arm-in-arm, shoulder-to-shoulder, side-by-side towards the same goal…

Because for 55 years we have stood loyally by our customers and business partners and served them as solution providers…Because we are able to contribute to education and health and to help protect the environment through projects that knit us into the community…

Because we are a global organization, possessing skills and qualifications that so many other companies aspire to have…

Because we have become a huge family that has grown and expanded together from those original five people back in 1958 to more than 13,500 individuals with many different languages, religions, nationalities, and cultures in five countries on two continents…

Because we were never content to remain at home but instead took our internationally-recognized high-quality and friendly service and standards into the international arenas of Europe and Asia…

We’ve been lucky because we never strayed from the chosen path that led to you and to our mutual cooperation…

Together we experienced the success that comes, no matter how difficult conditions may be, of a union of hearts and strengths. We still do.

We are a Turkish company. But with your help we have emblazoned our names at some of the world’s most heavily trafficked international airports in India, in Germany, in Austria, in Hungary.

Throughout its history and at every turning point, Çelebi has continued to experience the very same excitement and eagerness of its very first day due to the conviction, patience and successful collaboration of its business partners.

So, we would like to thank you, our valued customers and solution partners for giving us the opportunity to enjoy the privilege and distinction of working together in every active business line.

At the same time we also thank you for the precious and unrivaled contributions which you have made as our customers and solution partners towards Çelebi’s having become an aviation industry global brand with successful and substantial business operations in many different sectors. We share the honor and pride of our 55th year with you all... Çelebi Aviation Holding

ÇELEBİ Aviation Holding served as a sponsor and successful participant at ACCAI Convention in Istanbul, on November 22-25, 2012. This important occasion brought together high level executives of cargo sector from both India and Turkey at a common platform, therefore bridging two countries in the field of civil aviation with its successful operations in Delhi and Mumbai.Mr. Atilla Korkmazoglu, Çelebi’ Global Business Development President was one of the key speakers, where he talked about Celebi’s global success in the industry and future plans.

ACAAI NEWS CONVENTION ISSUE

◆ Out of the planned 100 million USD howmuch has been invested so far in India? Current activities of Çelebi Group in India are performed under three main entities, Çelebi NAS, Çelebi Delhi GH and Çelebi Delhi Cargo. Total investment in three operations has

reached to USD 76 million. In line with the current developments we have revised our target to reach USD 250 mn in 5 years.

◆ What are the challenges faced at Delhi and Mumbai Airport for Cargo Handling? There are some common challenges preventing to appraise the market potential. Infrastructure Bottlenecks, Stringent Regulatory Processes, Difficulty to employ skilled manpower, Reluctance to e-Freight, High Jet Aviation Fuel Prices, Not organized forwarder structure are some of them.In addition to these, ongoing airport development projects may also have negative impact on our cargo operations.

◆ What were the volumes of cargo handled at the two Indian Airports this year as compared to last year? What are the contributing factors?

In FY2011-12 total international and domestic cargo volume at two main airports of India was 1.23 million tons compared with 1.27 million tons in 2010-11. The major reason for 3% decrease has been the prevalent global economic downturn which has resulted in reduced global trade. Firstly the recession in Europe has caused a major decrease in export of readymade garments. Secondly there has been also a decline in Import of HEA/Telecom shipments due to the recent turmoil in telecom sector. In FY13 we expect a recovery in the market and an increase in both export and import cargo volumes.

◆ What is the strategy to deal with the competition at Delhi & Mumbai Airports? The main component of our strategy is operational service excellence. Delhi modernization and our continuous improvement works made Çelebi the choice of customers.

Once Çelebi was asked to manage the cargo terminal, there has been a lot of improvement not only in general handling of normal cargo but also the cargo meant to be handled at the cold storage facilities. One now does not need to worry about the samples / food / medicine etc. requiring controlled temperatures as the facilities have been improved and the staff is well trained to manage all such requirements. All thanks to Çelebi, who are making great efforts in managing the cargo handling, a pleasant experience comparable to any-where in the world. The staff is helpful and responsive and tries to assist the customers / agents in times of any difficulties. There is a system now to receive the goods, meant for cold storage and it is ensured that correct temperature is maintained for the shipments moving via the cold storage facility and staff is well trained / equipped to handle the same. We are sure that now our cargo is taken care of with the efficient handling for the Celebi staff which is a great step in the relationship between India and Turkey.

Modernization of cold storage facilities The cargo handling was a mess what to say about the cold storage where things meant to be kept were rotting due to improper handling and lack of basic facilities, required to run a cold storage facility.

Any cargo facility is the economic window to show the capability case of a country.

First impression of a country is created by the Airports and though there are certain developments in the recent years that may not be adequate to propel us to the next level of growth.

The PPP ( Public Private Partnership Model) was a turning point in the Indian history of economic growth, especially to the Ports and Airports,

Due to this PPP model we have Privatized Ports, Container Terminals, Airports and Air Terminals. Be it Green field like Bangalore, or Brown filed like Delhi and Mumbai significant changes have been brought in by PPP models.

Let's take an Example of Delhi Airport (Brown Filed) Model Its Operator DIAL handed over its Cargo Terminal Operations to Celebi and over a period of time there has been tremendous improvement not only in overall handling of normal(general) cargo but also in modernization of cold storage facilities., for seam less movement, be it urgent samples / food / medicine etc requiring controlled temperatures with quality trained man power

Çelebi’s team is making good progress by managing the cargo handling seam less, which is a pleasant experience, comparable to any where in the world with positive attitude , helpful and responsive personals wanting to cater and look at every requirement a customer (Consignee/Forwarder) System set to receive the goods meant for cold storage on arrival, without loss of time, ensures that correct temperature is maintained for the shipments requiring cold storage facility.

Global Sales & Marketing Department

Athina Kapeni , Global Sales and Marketing Director talks about her team.

Could you tell about yourself and your department’s organizational structure?

I joined Celebi Aviation Holding in March 2010, assigned to manage the newly introduced function of Global Sales and Marketing Division. In my role as the Director of the Global function, I am responsible to coordinate, support and monitor, the overall marketing and sales activities across Celebi subsidiaries, pursuing business development and ensuring the provision of streamlined customized services in a partnership approach with Celebi’s current and potential customers.

After obtaining my first graduate degree in law, International Communications, Politics and Public relations, I started my career in aviation

specializing in marketing and sales of Ground Handling, Cargo, Catering, Fuel, and business aviation ground services over the global network. Since then and for a period of more than 20 consecutive years, I have been working with Business Management of various aviation parties, Airlines, Airports and Global Ground handling and Cargo suppliers.

In Celebi, the Global Sales and Marketing Division focuses to develop and transfer the commercial integrity of the Company at all subsidiaries, while at same time flying with Celebi’s brand to all airports where Celebi's customers operate.

Currently, the division occupies a team of three employees including the Director. Ms. Eleonora Ziser has worked for four years in finance in

New York and tourism business in London, and has gained a multinational experience in related functional activities.

She has worked as a Sales and Marketing specialist for two years and one year as a financial data analyst in FMCG.In summary, the team is striving to enhance Celebi's Brand over the global aviation network to Trade Celebi's services over the globe and to introduce focused communications vehicles, for retaining existing customers, attracting potential customers and creating new business partnerships. Which particularities do you think differentiate Celebi from the other Ground Handling providers?
