PLAN
• Plan It is a set of consciously intended course of
action, a guideline (or set of guidelines) to deal with
a situation.
• By this definition strategies have two essential
characteristics:
1. They are made in advance of the actions to which
they apply
2. They are developed consciously and purposefully.
PLAN: Example
MUMBAI METRO
• Designed to carry 6 lakh commuters per day
• Reducing travel time from 90 mins to 21 mins
• To reduce burden on already saturated BEST and
suburban rails
• To fill the gap with improved services, lessening the
traffic congestion and bridging the gap between
eastern and western parts of the city
PLOY
• Ploy is manipulative decisions which are
intended to outwit an opponent or competitor
• It include plotting disrupt, dissuade, discourage,
or otherwise influence them. This is where
strategy can be a ploy, as well as a plan
PLOY: Example
ARRIVAL OF AIR ASIA
• AirAsia India is an Indo-Malaysian low cost carrier
announced on 19 February 2013
• As soon as this was announced all the airlines cut
down their fare for the month in which AirAsia is
going to get launched
• This lessen the demand and impact of AirAsia which
was termed as a low cost airline
PATTERN
• Pattern Consistency in behavior, whether or not
intended
• For example: a manager who makes decisions
that further enhance an already highly
responsive customer support process
PATTERN: Example
COSTA COFFEE
• Costa coffee follow a pattern that where ever
there is CCD 90% time they open a Cost coffee
shop near to it.
• They follow the pattern of following CCD
POSITION
• Position How you decide to position yourself in
the marketplace. In this way, strategy helps you
explore the fit between your organization and
your environment.
• Here we use PEST Analysis, Porter's Diamond,
and Porter's Five Forces
POSITION: Example
ROLEX
• Brand Rolex is focused primarily on the wealthy
consumers. It is synonymous with wealth,
success and influence
• They were clear with their positioning
PERSPECTIVE
• Perspective is a unique way of looking at the
world, and interpreting information from it,
judging its opportunities choices and acting.
Perspective looks inward into the firm.
• Strategy is a perspective shared by members of
an organization, through their intentions and/or
by their actions.
PERSPECTIVE: Example
TATA GROUP
• Tata has always been values-driven. These values continue
to direct the growth and business of Tata companies. The
five core Tata values underpinning the way we do business
are
▫ Integrity
▫ Understanding
▫ Excellence
▫ Unity
▫ Responsibility
