There will be a quiz this Wednesday. Then, we will learn how to plot points on a coordinate plane. 5B – Some students did not finish their order of operations quiz on Thursday, so we will be reviewing this and completing the quiz. On Tuesday, we will begin numerical expressions using order of operations. We will have a quiz on Friday. LANGUAGE ARTS *The 5 th graders will be reading the story, Elisa’s Diary, this week. *While reading this story, the students will focus on the theme and visualization of the story. *Vocabulary words and the spelling pattern will be passed on Monday! Please begin studying early! Spelling test will be on Thursday. Reading test will be on Friday. *The students will focus on singular and plural nouns. *We will continue to work on our persuasive writings this week. The students have been doing a great job convincing the reader about their topic! RELIGION This week, we will discuss the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe and continue focusing on the feasts celebrated during the season of Advent. Finally, we will experience the devotion of the Blessed Sacrament at first hand. We will have adoration after Mass on Tuesday. SCIENCE Students have been working hard to create diagrams of all five of the Earth’s systems. There will be a quiz this Thursday. A study guide will go home today. SOCIAL STUDIES This week, we will learn how other European nations challenged Spain in the Americas, and how the events in Europe affected settlement of North America. We will learn about the Northwest Passage and how European nations raced to establish empires in North America. Quiz on 12/19/17. 6th Grade News Week of December 11, 2017

MATH 6A- The class has been working on evaluating algebraic expressions by substituting a variable. There will be a quiz this Wednesday. Then, we will begin learning about like terms in equations.

6B- This week, sixth graders will learn about Coordinate Planes. Students will find and position integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane. Quiz on Friday.

SOCIAL STUDIES After studying the

geography of ancient Egypt

and completing a map in

class, the sixth graders will

make a travel brochure

and a commercial about

one of the ancient cities of

Egypt. There will be a

vocabulary quiz on Friday.

LANGUAGE ARTS

*We will only have a couple of

classes this week due to the

“Our Lady of Guadalupe”

practice on Monday, Mass and

Adoration on Tuesday, and

Christmas program practice on

Wednesday and Thursday

afternoon!
