Haiti- Our sister parish
relationship is entering an important phase. During March, the construction company in Meyer, Haiti, will complete the Cyvadier Center which will become the residence of three Sisters as well as a multi-purpose facility to support Sacre-Coeur Parish. When the building is finished, workers will then construct a protective wall to create a secure compound. Workers will surround the Center with a wall of approximately 700 feet total length. It will cost $41,000. A protective wall is a necessity in Haiti. This need was discussed with Father Greenleaf during his January visit to Meyer. Our Parish Commission on Social Justice and Peace has contacted possible donors for this project, including the mother house Our Lady of Perpetual Help in St. Damien de Buckland, Quebec. The Superior -- Sister Ramona Castillo -- has offered to work with our Parish for the wall, as well as for equipping the Center. Our Parish has funds to help with these projects because of your donations. We have a door collection on one weekend each month and the next one is scheduled for March 21-22.
Sunday March 15th: There will be a New Member Drive conducted by Brother Stephen Griffin and GK Denis Dancoes at St Jude Church following the Sunday Mass. We invite any Catholic Family to stop at the table and speak with the Brothers about this great Order of the Knights of Columbus.
Tuesday March 17th Happy Saint Patrick’s Day. The 5:30 Mass at Holy Martyr’s Church will be said for the repose of the soul of Brother James O. Harris. If you are unable to make this Mass then please plan of attending the one on March 21st at St Gregory. Following the Mass, the March Business Meeting will be held in our Meeting Room at 7:00 PM. Please plan on attending both the Mass and the Meeting.
Thursday March 19th : First Degree Team Practice will be held at Holy Martyrs Church at 7:15 PM in the green room. Friday March 20th: Please mark you calendar today and plan to attend the Stations of the Cross and a Simple Meatless Meal with your Family at your Worship site. See the weekly bulletin for more information. Saturday March 21st: The 4:00 PM Mass at Saint Gregory’s will be said for the repose of the soul of Brother James O. Harris. Please make plans to attend this Mass today in remembrance of Brother James.
New Initiatives on Organ Donation -- This program has been a particular interest to two parishioners -- Mario Pascarelli and
Bruce White of St. Jude Church. The recent meeting on March 9th was a brainstorming session to bolster interest in this vital pro-
gram. The group attending included Matt Bogar of the New England Organ Bank, Susan Snow of the Diocese Social Ministry, Lois
Czerniak, editor of Harvest magazine, as well as Cathy Martin and Mimi Rice of the Parish Social Justice Commission. They will
discuss the need at the next meeting of the Tri-Community Interfaith Council. They were invited by the Diocese Social Ministry to
participate in the May 15-16 annual conference on social action which will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Scarborough.

Opening Prayer
By your help, we beseech you, Lord our God, may we walk eagerly in that same charity with which, out of love for the world, your Son handed himself over to death. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Mass Readings
Reading 1 Jeremiah 31:31-34
The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers the day I took them by the hand to lead them forth from the land of Egypt; for they broke my covenant, and I had to show myself their master, says the LORD. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD. I will place my law within
them and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No longer will they have need to teach their friends and relatives how to know the LORD. All, from least to greatest, shall know me, says the LORD, for I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sin no
more.

Reading 2 Hebrews 5:7-9
In the days when Christ Jesus was in the flesh, he offered prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered; and when he was made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him. The Word of the Lord
QUESTIONS FOR UNDERSTANDING How does the author of the Letter to the Hebrews speak of the work of Jesus in the flesh? QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION How do you think Jesus learned obedience from what he suffered, and how do you learn obedience from what you suffer?
Gospel Jn 12:20-33
Some Greeks who had come to worship at the Passover Feast came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me. “I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it and will glorify it again.” The crowd there heard it and said it was thunder; but others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come for my sake but for yours. Now is the time of judgment on this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” He said this
indicating the kind of death he would die.
The Gospel of the Lord
QUESTIONS FOR UNDERSTANDING In this text, how does Jesus describe his upcoming? QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION When have you seen the death of something in your own life bring about new life?

Commentary—Echoing God’s Word by Fr. Clem Thibodeau
John: Philip and Andrew are the only two Apostles who have Greek names. Being from Galilee where there was a strong mixture of cultures, of races, and also of religions, they were most likely Greek-speaking Jews and not necessarily of Gentile racial or religious background. The Greeks who approach Philip and ask to be introduced to Jesus are most likely Gentiles, though. They probably were asking for an interpreter or at least for an emissary who would bridge the cultural divide which often kept Greek-speaking Jews apart from those who spoke Aramaic, let alone Jews from Gentiles. Jesus confronts these Greek-speaking Apostles with a message which they are apparently to deliver to the Gentiles: You are welcome to approach the Son of Man as long as you are willing to join him in his Passion and Death. In the Greek and Roman world, death was the ultimate enemy. It was to be shunned at all costs. Jesus asks that the world embrace death with him, in order to share in the new life which God will grant to those who are willing to obey this final invitation. Now is the “hour” to which Jesus has been destined. It is time for the final showdown between the life-giving power of God and the death-dealing power of evil. God's power will triumph in the resurrection of Christ. In the Semitic languages, the only way to express comparisons is to state the extremes. To hate means to love less. To hate our lives in this world means that we prefer God's will to our own; we put God ahead of the self. The prayer of Jesus, which follows his instruction on surrendering everything to God, functions much like the Prayer in the Garden in the Synoptic Gospels. Jesus finally accepts his mission and will enter into the glory of the Father. The world, which means everything essentially hostile to God in John, will be defeated.

HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE 2015
Jeremiah: The prophets of ancient Israel all called for a rededication of the nation to the Covenant. Jeremiah does the same. Only when the people have re-appropriated the terms of the Covenant, and the nation in its everyday functioning, will God relent and dwell with the people again in love and security. But now, Jeremiah calls for an internalization of the Covenant. Let it not be merely in external practices of worship or only in the official documents of the kingdom. It now needs to be “written on the heart.” In the Bible, the heart is the symbolic center of thinking and of willing, of knowing and of deciding. Commitments are made in the heart. For Jeremiah, the terms of the Covenant are still the same. God will be faithful; the nation must be faithful. Christians have been fond of this passage since it refers to a new covenant. In the death and resurrection of Christ, the Covenant has been renewed on behalf of all who will put their trust in Jesus.
Hebrews: Blest are we that Jesus Christ is one with us fully in our humanity. Only thus can we be saved by his dying and rising. Knowing the fullness of his humanity gives us confidence that our human nature can be transformed into glory even in the midst of our suffering and dying. Jesus learned obedience in his suffering. We know that it can be true for us also. We are cleansed and perfected in the crucible of pain at times. This section in Hebrews tells us that Jesus turned to the Father in prayer when he experienced the trials and tribulations inherent in his humanity. He becomes the model for us as we need to take refuge in prayer to connect ourselves with his pain and his triumph.
Conclude with the Closing Prayer
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord. For as true man he wept for Lazarus his friend and as eternal God raised him from the tomb, just as, taking pity on the human race, he leads us by sacred mysteries to new life. Through him the host of Angels adores your majesty and rejoices in your presence for ever. AMEBN

My Beloved Son: Meditations for Lent
Fr. Robert Barron offers five sermons on the spiritual discipline we must cultivate in the Lenten season, a dis-cipline centered in Christ. These meditations cover top-ics such as finding our identity in God, prayer as the key to mission, our thirst for God, how to end our alienation from God, and how to joyfully embrace the way of hap-piness.
