Description of the terminal

UPPER PART OF THE TERMINAL

The upper part of the terminal is fitted with connection ports as illustrated below.

PrerequisitesEnsure that you have the following items ready before installing your terminal:

• Active Internet access from a telephone service provider (3G/4G data package)

• The configuration settings for your SIM card• A computer configured for DHCP

REQUIRED SIM CONFIGURATION

Depending on how your SIM card is configured, you will need one or more configuration settings to connect your terminal to the Internet:

• the APN (Access Point Name)• a PIN code (Personal Identification Number)

Your telephone service provider should have given you all the necessary information to enable you to connect to the Internet.Please contact your service provider if you cannot find this information.

Getting startedYour terminal can be configured in five steps:

➊ Insert the SIM card

➋Install the terminal on its support

➌Connect the terminal

➍Configure the terminal

➎Connect to the Internet

Ask your telephone service provider for your SIM card’s configuration settings before you start.

INSERTING THE SIM CARD

Follow the steps below to insert the SIM card into your terminal.

➊ Disconnect the power cable.

➋Unscrew the plug on the upper panel of the terminal to access the SIM card slot.

➌Insert the SIM card into its slot. Ensure that the chip faces the side bearing the NeptuLink logo, with the truncated edge towards the terminal, as shown in the figure below.

➍ Screw the plug firmly back in place, ensu-ring that the O-ring seal is compressed.

➎Reconnect the power cable.

Be careful not to use excessive force when inserting your SIM card.You should hear a click when the card is inserted correctly.

Ensure that you check the network coverage and compare the offers available from different service providers.

Keep a minimum distance of 20 cm from the terminal before switching it on.

This terminal is designed to accept a Mini SIM card. Using an incompatible SIM card may damage your terminal or your card.

REMOVING THE SIM CARD

Follow the steps below to remove the SIM card from your terminal.

➊ Disconnect the power cable.

➋Unscrew the plug.

➌Push in and then release the SIM card to remove it from the slot.

➍Screw the plug back in place.

INSTALLING THE TERMINAL

Follow the steps below to install the termi-nal on a mast-type support.

➊ Use an 8 mm wrench to check the M5 screws attaching the terminal to the clamps. (NeptuLink uses metric fasteners. If you do not have metric tools, please use an adjus-table wrench.)

➋ Place the system on its mounting mast, ensuring that the black plug is facing upwards as shown in the following illustration.

Never remove the SIM card when the terminal is switched on, as this may damage the card or the terminal.

Use an 8 mm wrench (open-ended or tubular) to firmly tighten the M5 screws.

Position the terminal at height if possible to provide the best reception quality.

➌ Attach the terminal to the mast using long M8 screws and the clamps provided, as shown in the figure below.

➍Place one washer between the clamp and the nut and the other below the screw head.

➎ Tighten the first nut and then use a second nut to lock it in place.

Use a 13 mm wrench (open-ended or tubular) to firmly tighten the clamps. (NeptuLink uses metric fasteners. If you do not have metric tools, please use an adjustable wrench.) The use of multiple slip joint pliers is not recommended.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

The terminal can be powered in two ways:

• Standard connection using the 10-40 VDC supply plug (3)

• Optional connection using the 10-40 VDC Power over Ethernet (PoE) port (2) via a passive injector.

STANDARD POWER CONNECTION

Connect the brown ‘+’ (10 to 40 VDC) and blue ‘-’ (ground) electrical wires to the corres-ponding terminals in your electrical system.

Follow the steps below to connect your terminal to the network and power supply in the standard configuration.

➊Plug the Ethernet cable into the appropriate sealed connector (2) on the terminal. Turn it several times to lock it in place. Plug the other end of the cable into the Ethernet port on your computer or router.

➋Plug the power cable into the appropriate sealed connector (3) on the terminal. Turn it to lock it in place. Plug the other end of the cable into your electrical system.

➌The terminal is now switched on.

Keep a minimum distance of 20 cm from the terminal before switching it on.

If you have the PoE option, do not connect the PoE injector and the standard power supply at the same time.If you have the PoE option, do not connect/disconnect the Ethernet port to/from the terminal when the injector is live. Do not use damaged power cables

or plugs.

Do not twist or damage the power cable.

Observe the wiring color codes to avoid damaging the terminal.The guarantee does not cover any damage resulting from improper use.

Check that the connectors on the power cable are compatible with your electrical system.

Ensure that the Ethernet connector is screwed in fully.

The terminal must be supplied with a voltage of between 10 and 40 VDC.

PoE CONNECTION

Follow the steps below to connect the terminal to the network and power supply in the PoE configuration (optional).

➊ Plug the Ethernet cable into the appropriate sealed connector (2) on the terminal. Turn it several times to lock it in place.

➋Plug the other end of the cable into the Power+Data port on your PoE injector.

➌ Connect the Power+Data port on your PoE injector to the Ethernet port on your compu-ter or router.

➍ Power your PoE injector using the 220 VAC/24 VDC wall transformer provided.

SWITCHING OFF THE TERMINAL

To switch off the terminal

• Standard configuration: unplug the power cable by turning the connector to unlock it then replace the sealing plugs on the connectors.

• PoE configuration: switch off the PoE injector by unplugging its power cable.

CONFIGURING THE TERMINAL

Follow the instructions below to configure and test the 4G connectivity.

➊Turn on your computer.

➋ Type the URL http://192.168.1.1 into the address field of a browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

➌ The following login box will appear:

Enter ‘root’ as the user name and ‘root’ as the password, all in lower case.

Ensure that the Ethernet connector is screwed in fully.

Do not twist or damage the Ethernet cable.

Do not use damaged Ethernet cables or plugs.

The standard power cable must not be connected. Ensure that the plug on the sealed connector (3) is tightened properly (turn it to lock it in place).

Your computer must be configured for DHCP. For instructions on DHCP configuration, please refer to your computer documentation or see the Appendix: ‘Configuring your computer for DHCP’.

The terminal will automatically assign an IP address to your computer.

➍ When the welcome page appears, click on the Network / Interfaces tab.

➎ Click on the Edit button to edit the Neptu-

Link interface. You are now ready to confi-gure your terminal for connection to the Internet.

➏ Enter your telephone service provider’s APN and the PIN code for your SIM card.

➐ Click on the Save & Apply button to save and apply the settings.

➑ Test your Internet connection.

Click on the Status / Overview tab and then on the Network section to check that the WAN status (Wide Area Network connection)

appears as shown below:

Your terminal is now configured to allow your computer to access the Internet. Your terminal will automatically establish an Internet connection when your computer requires access.

To access the Internet from a computer connected to your terminal, launch a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explo-rer or Google Chrome. The browser should display a web page.

ADVANCED CONFIGURATION

Click on the Advanced Settings tab to access the advanced configuration options.

Enable Roaming2 : this option allows you to

configure the terminal for using data connec-tions when you change to a different country.

Enable PIN Protection : this activates or deac-tivates the PIN code protection function. If the box is checked, you will need to re-enter the PIN code for your SIM card.

Service provider’s APN

Code PIN

If you enter an incorrect PIN code three times, the SIM card will be blocked. If this happens, contact your service provider to obtain a PUK (PIN Unblocking Key) code.

Depending on your subscription package, sending or receiving data outside your service provider’s coverage zone may incur additional costs.Contact your service provider for further information.

(2) Roaming: this service allows you to connect transparently to a mobile network in a foreign country when you travel beyond your service provider’s coverage zone.

Troubleshooting and FAQsShould you experience any problems with your terminal, please use the table below to find a solution. If you cannot find the right solution, please contact our Technical Support team or your retailer.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION

Poor reception quality

You are too far away from any of your service provider’s mobile network base stations to receive a high-quality signal.

Check your network coverage.To send and receive data, you must be in a zone covered by your service provider’s network.

SIM card error

Faulty or damaged SIM card. Contact your mobile operator.

SIM card inserted incorrectly.Insert your SIM card correctly following the steps described under“Inserting the SIM card”.

SIM card blocked You have entered the wrong PIN code.Contact your service provider to obtain a PUK code to unblock your SIM card.

Internet connection unavailable or slow

You are not in a 3G/4G service coverage zone.

Check your network coverage.The reception bars should be displayed on your terminal’s configuration interface together with ‘3G’ or ‘4G’.

Weak reception signal. Bring your vessel closer to land.

You have used up your Internet data volume.

Contact your service provider to find out how much data you have used.If you have exceeded your data allowance, your bandwidth may be reduced.

Terminal’s administration interface not accessible

The terminal is not switched on.

• Check the power cable. “Connect the terminal”• Check the fuse.If you are using the PoE configuration, ensure that the injector is connected to the power supply.

The connection status is displayed as “Not Connected”

The SIM card settings you have entered are incorrect.

Contact your service provider to obtain the correct SIM card settings.

You have changed the SIM card settings.

Click on the “Connect” button on the NeptuLink interface or unplug and then reinsert the terminal’s power cable.

AppendixThis Appendix contains links to reference documents explaining the technologies that your terminal uses:

Configuring your computerfor DHCPTo access your terminal, you will need to use the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Proto-col). Your terminal will contact a DHCP server, which will automatically assign an IP address to the computer connected to the Ethernet port.

To activate DHCP, follow the steps below:

➊Click on the Start button and then on Control Panel and Network and Sharing Center.

➋To display the network connections, click on Change adapter settings on the left-hand side of the Network and Sharing Center panel.

➌Right-click on the connection you wish to change and then click on Properties . Enter an administrator password or confirm the change if prompted to do so.

➍Click on Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then on Properties.

➎ Click on Obtain an IP address automati-cally.

➏Click on Obtain DNS Server addresses automatically.

➐ Click on OK to close the dialog box. Your

computer is now configured for DHCP.

Connecting your terminal to a Wi-Fi routerTo share a 4G connection between several computers on a local network, you need to connect your terminal to a Wi-Fi router.

If you have chosen the «Wi-Fi router» option recommended by MVG Industries, please fol-low the steps presented below. Otherwise refer to your user manual.

➊Plug an Ethernet cable into one of the 4 Ethernet LAN ports available on your Wi-Fi router. Plug the other end of the cable into the Ethernet port on your computer.

➋ Power up the Wi-Fi router using the 220 VAC/5 VDC wall transformer provided.

➌ Type the URL http://192.168.0.1 into the address field of a browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

➍ The following login box will appear

Enter ‘admin’ (in lower case) as the user name and leave the password field empty.

➎ From the configuration interface, click on the Setup/Internet Setup tab. On the left panel click on Manual Connection Internet setup.

Check that the Internet connection type is set to Dynamic IP (DHCP).

Click on Save Settings.

➏ To configure the router’s Wi-Fi connection, click on the Wireless Setup menu in the left panel.

The «Wireless Network» panel is displayed

➐ In the Wi-Fi Protected Setup section, uncheck the Enable box.

➑ In the Wireless Network Settings section: • check the Enable Wireless box and set

mode to Always. • under Wireless Network Name, give the

name (SSID) of your Wi-Fi connection

➒In the Wireless Security Mode section, • set the encryption type (Cipher) to Auto

(TKIP/AES). • select PSK mode • under Network key, give a Wi-Fi connec-

tion password

➓Click on Save Settings then Logout to quit the configuration interface.

Plug the Ethernet cable into the appropriate sealed connector (2) on the terminal. Turn it several times to lock it in place. Plug the other end of the cable into the INTERNET Ethernet port on your Wi-Fi router. The Wi-Fi router is now configured to share the connection of your 4G terminal.

PrérequisVous devez préparer les éléments suivants avant d’installer votre terminal :

• Accès Internet actif fourni par un opérateur téléphonique (forfait data 3G/4G)

• Paramètre de configuration de votre carte SIM• Ordinateur configuré pour le DHCP

CONFIGURATION SIM REQUISE

En fonction de la configuration de votre carte SIM, vous aurez besoin d’un ou plu-sieurs paramètres de configuration pour connecter votre terminal à Internet :

• Paramètre APN (Access Point Name)• Code PIN (Personal Identification Number)

Votre opérateur téléphonique devrait avoir fourni toutes les informations nécessaires à votre connexion à Internet. Si vous ne trou-vez pas ces informations, demandez-les auprès de votre opérateur.

Avant de commencer, demandez à votre opé-rateur téléphonique les paramètres de configu-ration de votre carte SIM.

INSÉRER LA CARTE SIM

Suivez les étapes ci-dessous pour insérer la carte SIM dans votre terminal.

➊ Débranchez le cordon d’alimentation.

➋Pour accéder au logement de la carte SIM, dévissez le bouchon du panneau supérieur du terminal.

➌ Insérez la carte SIM dans son em-placement. La puce doit être orien-tée vers la face sur laquelle se situe l’autocollant NeptuLink et le bord tronqué vers le terminal comme illustré sur la figure suivante.

➍ Revissez enfin le bouchon avec fermeté de sorte que le joint torique soit bien écrasé.

➎ Rebranchez le cordon d’alimentation.

Veillez à ne pas trop forcer sur la carte SIM lors de l’insertion. Assurez-vous d’entendre un « clic » indiquant la bonne insertion.

Il vous appartient de vérifier la couverture réseau et de voir auprès des différents opérateurs les offres qu’ils sont en mesure de vous proposer.

N’alimentez pas le terminal si vous vous trouvez à moins de 20 cm du dispositif.

Ce terminal est conçu pour recevoir une carte mini SIM. L’utilisation de cartes SIM incompatibles risque d’endommager le terminal ou la carte.

RETIRER LA CARTE SIM

Suivez les étapes ci-dessous pour retirer la carte SIM de votre terminal.

➊ Débranchez le cordon d’alimentation.

➋Dévissez le bouchon.

➌ Poussez la carte SIM vers l’intérieur, puis re-lâchez-la et retirez-la de son emplacement.

➍ Revissez le bouchon.

INSTALLER LE TERMINAL

Suivez les étapes ci-dessous pour installer le terminal sur un support de type mât.

➊ Vérifiez les vis M5 qui relient le terminal aux mâchoires à l’aide d’une clé de 8.

➋ Placez le système sur son mât de fixation en s’assurant que le bouchon noir soit po-sitionné vers le haut comme indiqué sur l’il-lustration suivante.

Ne retirez jamais une carte SIM lorsque le terminal est sous tension. Vous risqueriez d’endommager la carte SIM ou le terminal.

Utilisez une clé de 8 (clé plate ou à pipe) pour serrer fermement les vis M5.

BRANCHEMENTS ÉLECTRIQUES

Le terminal peut être alimenté de deux façons :

• Alimentation classique par la prise d’alimenta-tion (3) en DC 10-40 V

• Alimentation optionnelle par le port Ether-net (2) en Power Over Ethernet (PoE) en DC 10-40 V via un injecteur passif.

ALIMENTATION CLASSIQUE

Branchez les fils électriques marron « + » (10 V à 40 VDC) et bleu « - » (masse) sur les bornes correspondantes de votre installation élec-trique.

Suivez les étapes ci-dessous pour effectuer les branchements réseau et électrique du terminal en configuration alimentation classique.

➊Connectez le câble Ethernet depuis l’em-base (2) étanche correspondante du ter-minal. Effectuez plusieurs tours pour le verrouiller. Connectez l’autre extrémité du câble au port Ethernet de votre ordinateur ou du routeur.

➋Connectez le cordon d’alimentation depuis l’embase (3) étanche correspondant du ter-minal. Effectuez un mouvement de rotation pour le verrouiller. Branchez l’autre extrémi-té sur votre installation électrique.

➌Le terminal est sous tension.

N’alimentez pas le terminal si vous vous trouvez à moins de 20 cm du dispositif.

Si vous disposez de l’option d’alimentation par PoE, ne branchez pas simultanément le PoE et la prise d’alimentation classique. Si vous disposez de l’option d’alimentation PoE, ne connectez/déconnectez pas le port Ethernet du terminal lorsque l’injecteur est sous tension.

N’utilisez pas de prises et de cordon d’alimentation endommagé(e)s.

Ne tordez pas ou n’endommagez pas le cordon d’alimentation.

Respectez impérativement la couleur des fils électriques sous risque d’endommager le terminal. Les dégâts résultant d’une mauvaise utilisation ne sont pas couverts par la garantie.

Vérifiez que l’extrémité du câble d’alimentation est munie de connecteurs compatibles avec votre installation électrique.

Assurez-vous que le connecteur Ethernet est entièrement vissé.

Le terminal doit impérativement être alimenté avec des tensions d’alimentation comprises entre 10-40 VDC.

ALIMENTATION PoE

Suivez les étapes ci-dessous pour effec-tuer les branchements réseau et élec-trique du terminal en configuration alimentation PoE (optionnelle).

➊ Connectez le câble Ethernet depuis l’embase (2) étanche correspondante du terminal. Ef-fectuez plusieurs tours pour le verrouiller.

➋Connectez l’autre extrémité du câble au port Power + Data de votre injecteur PoE.

➌ Connectez le port Power+Data de votre in-jecteur PoE au port Ethernet de votre ordi-nateur ou de votre routeur.

➍ Mettez votre injecteur PoE sous tension via le transformateur mural 220 VAC/24 VDC fourni.

COUPER L’ALIMENTATION DU TERMINAL

Pour couper l’alimentation du terminal

• Configuration classique : débranchez le cordon d’alimentation en le déverrouillant par un mouvement de rotation puis replacez les bouchons étanches sur les connecteurs.

• Configuration PoE : mettez hors tension votre injecteur PoE en débranchant son cor-don d’alimentation.

CONFIGURATION DU TERMINAL

Suivez les instructions suivantes pour configu-rer une connectivité 4G et la tester.

➊Allumez votre ordinateur.

➋ Saisissez l’adresse http://192.168.1.1 dans le champ d’adresse d’un na-vigateur tel que Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome ou Mozilla Firefox.

➌ Cette fenêtre de connexion s’affiche :

Saisissez root comme nom d’utilisateur et root comme mot de passe, le tout en minuscule.

Assurez-vous que le connecteur Ethernet soit entièrement vissé.

Ne tordez pas ou n’endommagez pas le cordon Ethernet.

N’utilisez pas de prises et de cordon Ethernet endommagé(e)s.

Le câble d’alimentation classique ne doit pas être branché, assurez-vous que le bouchon de l’embase (3) étanche est correctement verrouillé (effectuez un mouvement de rotation pour le verrouiller).

Votre ordinateur doit être configuré pour le DHCP. Pour obtenir des instructions sur la configuration DHCP, reportez-vous à la documentation de votre ordinateur ou à l’annexe « Configurer votre ordinateur pour le DHCP ».

Le terminal assigne automatiquement une adresse IP à votre ordinateur.

➍ Une fois sur la page d’accueil cliquez sur l’onglet Network / Interfaces

➎ Cliquez sur le bouton Edit pour éditer l’in-

terface NeptuLink. Vous êtes maintenant prêt à configurer votre terminal pour qu’il se connecte à Internet.

➏ Saisissez l’APN de votre opérateur télépho-nique ainsi que le code PIN de votre carte SIM.

➐ Cliquez sur le bouton Save & Apply pour sauvegarder et appliquer les paramètres.

➑ Tester votre connexion Internet.

Cliquez sur l’onglet Status / Overview puis dans la section Network et vérifiez que le statut de la connexion WAN Status

apparaît comme illustré ci-dessous :

Votre terminal est maintenant configuré de sorte qu’il permette un accès à Internet à votre ordinateur. Votre terminal établit au-tomatiquement une connexion à Internet lorsque l’ordinateur en a besoin.

Pour accéder à Internet depuis un ordina-teur connecté à votre terminal, lancez un navigateur tel que Microsoft Internet Explo-rer ou Google Chrome. Le navigateur de-vrait afficher une page Web.

CONFIGURATION AVANCÉE

Cliquez sur l’onglet Advanced Settings pour accéder aux paramètres avancés.

Enable Roaming2 : L’activation de cette option

vous permet de paramétrer le terminal pour uti-liser les connexions de données lorsque vous changez de pays.

Enable PIN Protection : permet d’activer ou de désactiver la protection par code PIN. Si la case est cochée il sera nécessaire de rentrer le code PIN de votre carte SIM.

Si vous entrez un code PIN erroné à trois reprises, la carte SIM est verrouillée. Le cas échéant, contactez votre opérateur pour obtenir le code PUK (PIN Unblocking Key)

En fonction de l’offre à laquelle vous avez souscrite, l’envoi ou la réception de données en dehors de la zone de couverture de votre opérateur peut occasionner des frais supplémentaires. Pour en savoir plus, contactez votre opérateur.

(2) Roaming (itinérance) : Ce service permet de vous connecter en toute transparence à un réseau mobile dans un pays étranger lorsque vous voyagez à l’extérieur de la zone de couverture de votre opérateur.

Vous n’êtes pas dans une zone de couverture de services 3G/4G.

Vérifiez votre couverture réseau. Vous devez voir affiché des barrettes de réception sur l’interface de configuration de votre terminal avec les mentions 3G ou 4G.

Signal de réception faible. Rapprochez-vous des côtes - littoral.

Vous avez épuisé votre volume de données Internet.

Vérifiez auprès de votre opérateur le volume de données consommé. Au-delà du volume votre débit peut être réduit.

Impossible d’accéder à l’interface d’administration du terminal

Le terminal n’est pas alimenté.

• Vérifiez le cordon d’alimentation. « Connexion du terminal »• Vérifier l’état du fusibleDans le cas d’une alimentation par PoE, vérifiez que l’injecteur est bien alimenté.

Le statut de la connexion affiche « Not Connected »

Vous avez entré des paramètres de carte SIM erronés.

Contactez votre opérateur pour obtenir les paramètres de la carte SIM.

Vous avez changé les paramètres de carte SIM.

Configurer votre ordinateur pour le DHCPPour accéder à votre terminal, il est nécessaire d’utiliser le protocole DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). Le terminal embarque un serveur DHCP qui assigne automatique-ment une adresse IP à l’ordinateur connecté au port Ethernet.

Pour activer DHCP, suivez les étapes sui-vantes :

➊Cliquez sur le bouton Démarrer , puis sur Panneau de Configuration et Centre Réseau et partage.

➋ Pour afficher les connexions réseau, cliquez sur le lien Modifier les paramètres de la carte situé sur le côté gauche du panneau Centre Réseau et partage.

➌ Cliquez à l’aide du bouton droit de la souris sur la connexion que vous souhaitez modi-fier, puis cliquez sur Propriétés . Si vous êtes invité à fournir un mot de passe admi-nistrateur ou une confirmation, fournissez le mot de passe ou confirmez.

➍ Cliquez sur Protocole Internet version 4 (TCP/IPv4), puis sur Propriétés.

Connecter votre terminal à un routeur Wi-FiPour partager la connexion 4G entre plusieurs ordinateurs d’un réseau local, il est nécessaire de connecter votre terminal avec un routeur Wi-Fi.

Si vous avez opté pour l’option « routeur Wi-Fi » recommandé par MVG Industries, veuillez suivre les étapes décrites ci-après. Dans le cas contraire reportez-vous à votre manuel utilisa-teur.

➊Connectez un câble Ethernet depuis l’un des 4 ports Ethernet LAN disponibles sur votre routeur Wi-Fi. Connectez l’autre extré-mité au port Ethernet de votre ordinateur.

➋ Mettez le routeur Wi-Fi sous tension à l’aide du transformateur mural 220 VAC/5 VDC fourni.

➌ Saisissez l’adresse http://192.168.0.1 dans le champ d’adresse d’un navigateur tel que Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome ou Mozilla Firefox.

➍ Cette fenêtre de connexion s’affiche

Saisissez ‘admin’ (en minuscule) comme nom d’utilisateur et laissez le champ mot de passe vide.

➎ Depuis l’interface de configuration, cliquez sur l’onglet Setup / Internet Setup. Sur le bandeau de gauche cliquez sur le bouton Manual Connection Internet Setup.

Vérifiez que le type de connexion Internet est positionné sur Dynamic IP (DHCP).

Cliquez sur le bouton Save Settings pour sauvegarder les paramètres.

➏ Pour configurer la connexion Wi-Fi du routeur, cliquez sur le menu Wireless Setup depuis le bandeau de gauche.
