At the age of fourteen, she picked up her mother’s point and shoot camera and began taking pictures. From that moment on, Dasha Denger knew that photography would be a hobby to pursue. When she was eight years old, Denger moved to Davenport from Novouralsk, Russia. She began by taking pictures of nature, flowers, water droplets and insects. She then advanced to taking simple family and friend portraits.

Dasha Dengeremerges as a prolificphotographer in theQuad Cities, despitestill being a student.

Denger attends Scott Community College in the Bettendorf, Iowa. Although she does not attend college specifically for photography; her hobby slowly turned into her career. Denger is self-employed at her own photography business called Dasha Denger Photography. She uses a Canon 1DS Mark II camera has a few simple lenses varying from 50mm to wide angle lenses to take her photographs. Her portfolio of work consists of pictures of adults, children, infants, engagements, pets, nature, fashion, branding and design, and self-portraits. “I love senior portraits, but I always think those are the kinds of work you can do for the rest of your life because people will always be in need of some kind of

Denger draws much of her inspiration from the work of other photographers. “I do not see huge amounts of parallels between paintings & photography. Thus, if I'm viewing any other kind of art, I love the meaning and technique on their own, without pulling any kind of photographic ideas. I love getting inspired by other photographers, both fashion and portrait.” Denger is currently competing in the ArtistsWanted.org competition calledArt Takes Times Square. One or two of her photographs will be featured on the advertisingbillboards on June 18 at Times Square in Manhattan, New York.

Denger’s ultimate goal is to one day live and work in New York City, focusing on fashion. She hopes to work as a photographer for a fashion magazine such as Harpers Bazaar or Vouge. I would love to get more "fashion worldexperience!” Currently, her future plans include growing her business more and spreading the word about her work. Her talent does not cease at photography. Denger also specializes in jewelry making, graphic design, painting, and hair accessory and fashion design.

portraits. However, fashion, it's an art form youcan never quit!”

4D: Tell me a little about doing self-portraits. How does it feel to be on the other side of thecamera?DD: Good! Sometimes it's nice to be the model and see what you look like on the other side of the glass. It's also very fun getting all made up and doing all the poses you always tell your models to do, on your own! It's like you actually have the ability to step into someone else's shoes, a very useful experience for any photographer I think.

4D: How do you decide to style a fashion shoot? I.e. hair, make-up, clothing, location, etc.

DD: I either already have a vision after which I scout for a model, or if a model contacts me, I'll come up with a theme on my own or with a

little help from other photographic inspirations. A lot of the times I do a lot of very natural looking makeup and hair, when other times I'll

go all out and do something more edgy.”

4D: What is your favorite picture that you have ever taken?DD: That's an extremely tough one. Honestly, I don't think I can name one. Mystyle changes a lot because I'm constantly growing as an artist from every shoot I do. So,to name just one would be a crazy hard. One of my latest shoots I had done was a friendmaternity session. That was a very, very fun time!

4D: Do you edit your own pictures? What style do you use and why? DD: I always edit my own images. I'd love to get some help every now and then, but mostly I do all of my editing. I honestly think that editing/Photoshop is almost 50% ofphotography and deserved just as much attention for post processing as the actual art ofphoto taking. I love a very vintage style with huge emphasis on blues, reds or even pinks.A lot of my portraits are very naturally color balanced, when my fashion goes above andbeyond with extreme color edits to portray all the beauty of the fashion world.

Shutter4D: Has your work ever been displayed anywhere or featured in any publications? DD: Yes. I have had multiple publications both online and published. Here aresome of the magazines which have featured my work:
