BRUNO THIERRYCôtes du Rhône RoséBruno Thierry has been making wine in the Rhône Valley since 1985. This classic dry rosé, blended from cinsault, syrah, grenache, is fuller and more flavoursome than most Australian rosés with a hint more skin contact – a more serious style.

GRANGENEUVE Bordeaux Rosé 2015The second label of Château Hostens-Picant is situated in the Sainte-Foy sub-region of Bordeaux; this light and delightful dry rosé is made using only organic methods and a 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc.

CHÂTEAU LA FREYNELLEBordeaux Rosé 2015A generous and approachable Bordeaux rosé with strawberry, raspberry aromas and a fruity, fresh and complex mouth at the same time. Great served chilled as an aperitif, or with grilled meat, salads, pastas and pizza.

DE BORTOLIDown the Lane RoséVery pale in colour with just a slight pink hue. A pleasant funky character in this wine with fruit flavours of currants and sour cherries. The finish is clean but with some slight creaminess.

THE PAWN WINE CO.El Desperado RoséDelicate and fine rosé with yummy Turkish Delight and rose water aromas. An interesting light herbal character sits in the background while the strawberry and cherry flavours still dominate.

Rosé happens when the skins of red grapes touch wine for only a short time. The winemaker has complete control over the colour of the wine, and removes the red grape skins when the wine reaches the perfect colour. Nearly any red wine grape can be used to make rosé wine.

SUMEIRE NAUTICRosé 2016A 50/50 blend of grenache and cinsault crafted by winemaker Sophie Sumeire Denante who hails from one of the region’s oldest wine families. Dry and crisp and light, it is the epitome of the region’s style – serve chilled on its own or with fish and fowl.

SUMEIRE Château L’Afrique Rosé 2015Very pale rosé produced from predominantly old vine Grenache, as well as Syrah. It exhibits nuances of rosewood with an intense and rich perfume of crisp apples and passionfruit with some grapefruit/citrus nuances. Bright, round and refreshing. Looks simply beautiful in the glass, this is heavenly.

JACOB’S CREEK Le Petit RoséA new rosé to Red Bottle. The wine has been modelled on the classic Provence style of rosé but has been given an Aussie angle with a richer more fruit driven palate. Excellent drinking and highly recommended.

SUMEIRERosé de Sophie 2014The dry, refreshing pink wines of Provence may not be complicated or heady, but they are certainly lovely. This classic rosé is full of crisp acidity with light touches of tart red berries and citrus fruit.

TU_KU PINK Sauvignon Blanc 2016/17Sauvignon Blanc is not your traditional grape to make rosé from, however this has not affected the quality of the wine. A fresh, uncomplicated style that is to be chilled down cold and enjoyed immediately.

JIM BARRYAnnabelle’s Rosé 2017A really enjoyable rosé that tends towards the more savoury than fruit driven. Blackberry and blackcurrants with some herbal and spiced characters. Unlike most rosés, this could actually reward a couple of years in the cellar.

DANIEL RION Bourgogne Rouge Pinot Noir 2013From gently sloping 20 year-old vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges this 100% pinot noir has cherry and blackcurrant flavours balanced by soft older oak and medium grape tannins, try it as an affordable alternative to top Central Otago pinot and you will be pleasantly surprised.

MAS DU COLOMBEL Faugères 2014Situated in France’s warmer southern region, Faugères is one of Languedoc’s most exciting appellations specialising in toothsome, minerally reds like this unoaked blend of syrah, grenache, mourvédre and carignan. A solid bold red reminiscent of warmer climate Aussie GSMs with ripe fruit and spice and a touch of earthiness.

PAS DES ROCHES Côtes du Rhône 2015Made from old vines, elegant and peppery with subtle tannin; a lovely lighter style French Rhône red that is fantastic value and oh so easy to drink.

CLOS D’ALZAN Côtes-du-Rhône Village ‘Signargues’ 2013Michel Collomb and his wife Valérie have two estates in the Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Signargues where they grow grenache, syrah and mourvédre. A rich, hearty and dark grenache blend boasting lots of blackcurrant fruit, pepper and spice.

IMPORTED FRENCH WINES

CHÂTEAU LAMOTHE Vincent BordeauxManaged by the 4th generation brothers Christophe and Fabien Vincent with a history dating back to 1873. Situated in the sub-region of Entre-Deux-Mers the wine is 80% merlot with a splash of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc; whilst it can be drunk now it will keep for a further ten years.

DOMAINE LA VITALIS Cairanne Côtes-du-Rhône 2014Big, bold, ripe with soft tannins, reminiscent of Australian GSM blends. This mouth filler demands red meat.

BRUNO THIERRY Côtes du Rhône 2013A producer that has been making wine in the Rhône Valley since 1985, blended predominantly from syrah and a small proportion of grenache, medium to full bodied with hints of black pepper, tapenade and dry herbs.

CHÂTEAU L’ÉTOILE DE CLOTTE Saint-Émillion Grand Cru 2014Coming from a tiny 2.5-hectare vineyard planted to 80% merlot, 15% cabernet sauvignon and 5% malbec the average vine age being 45 years. The wine is deeply ruby coloured, with a generous bouquet, a mix of mature black fruits, nuanced toasty notes and liquorice. The palate is sappy and strong, with well-structured tannins.

BRUNO THIERRY Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2010A producer that has been making wine in the Rhône Valley since 1985 this southern Rhône red is blended from grenache, syrah and mourvédre and the for runner of Australia’s classic and heroic GSMs from South Australia. Aged in older oak barrels, a savoury and full-bodied style that is firmer and not as fruity as its Australian counterparts.

CHÂTEAU L’HEYRISSON Frank Reserve 2011A blend of Bordeaux’s classic merlot (57%) cabernet sauvignon (25%) and cabernet franc (18%) varieties have produced a firm and full red with tight fruit and oak tannins. A little different from Australian counterparts, drink now or over the next 10 years.

Fermented in oak vats then aged on lees to add extra complexity this is a great drinking pinot and a step up from its Australian and New Zealand counterparts.

NINTH ISLANDPinot NoirVineyards in Northern Tasmania have produced a light but vibrant wine. Lots of cherry and blackberries with cedar and spice nuances. Very much a drink now pinot noir for food matching.

RACINEPinot Noir 2015Burgundian Bruno Lafon, owner of Domaine Magellan in the Languedoc, and François Chamboissier from Bordeaux together in a project in the sth of France where they seek out great parcels of vineyards. A pinot worth trying if you are a fan of Mornington or Central Otago wines; medium weight, balanced tannins and classic savoury, slightly earthy characters.

BROWN BROTHERS TEN ACRES Shiraz 2015This single vineyard wine hailing from Heathcote is not for the faint hearted. Cinnamon, white pepper and elegant cedary oak combine with powerful red berry fruit flavours with balanced oak in the background adding complexity. This is a solid, high-quality red.

WIRRA WIRRA CATAPULT Shiraz 2016This wine requires one thing and one thing only. A plate of spiced braised duck with bok choy. The perfect match. Gold medal winner at the 2017 Selections Mondiales des Vins Canada Wine Competition.

GRANT BURGEMiamba Shiraz 2015/16Deep, vibrant purple in colour with tasty aromas of dark chocolate, plums and spice. A typical full-bodied Barossa shiraz that is drinking well now but will definitely reward 10 years of patient cellaring.

BROKENWOOD CRICKET PITCH Red 2015A blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 29% shiraz, 11% merlot. Lifted dark fruit and cedar notes on the nose. A rich mouth feel from the McLaren Vale cabernet sauvignon and shiraz. Fine tannins with the oak very much in the background ensuring great drinkability.

PITCHFORK Cabernet MerlotA medium bodied dry red wine. Big ripe aromas of blackberries and raspberries and some cassis, definitely dominated by the cabernet. Softer grippy tannins through the wine but with an approachability that make this a lovely drink.

THE OWL AND PUSSYCAT Sth Aust Merlot 2013Soft tannins with a hint of mint have made this an upfront soft drinking red that is so easy to quaff.

BLEASDALE SECOND INNINGS Malbec 2016Malbec is a variety that is generally blended with other wines in Australia, but when done well is a great drink on its own. Primary fruit flavours of plums, red berries and pepper spice. Finishing soft and round with velvety smooth tannins.
