Timothy Eaton Business and Technical Institute (B.T.I.) is committed to developing all the skills students need to gain entry into the work place.Eaton's combination of Employment Focus Programs and Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Programs make the Ontario Secondary School Diploma from Eaton a passport to employment opportunities. Our WoodLINKS cabinetry and millwork program has exceptional industry suuport. Students take this program in a state of the art shop and classroom and have access to co-op placements at major GTA companies. Eaton's O.Y.A.P. programs are renowned for giving students a head start by directly linking to specific trade areas and by allowing for the accumulation of apprenticeship hours while still in high school. Timothy Eaton's academic staff teach theoretical concepts which relate to and support practical applications that smooth the transition from school to work. Literacy and numeracy are ongoing school-wide initiatives. Special Education provides a wide range of accommodations and supports, both to students who have been formally identified and to those needing intermittent assistance, so that all students can reach the high level of performance necessary for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.     In addition to the regular instructional program mandated by The OntarioCurriculum , our school offers optional programs. Details of these programs canbe found in the Choices document available on the TDSB web (TDSB.on.ca). Ahardcopy is provided to students and parents in January of each year to assistthem in choosing courses for the following school year.

    The primary purpose of student assessment is to improve learning.Assessment has the greatest potential to improve learning when it is anintegral part of classroom activities. Teachers assess student progresstowards achieving the expectations on an ongoing basis by usingstrategies such as projects, class presentations, homework assignments,classroom observations, portfolios of student work, and tests.

    Schools use assessment information and information from other sourcesto make informed decisions for school improvement planning. Schoolsidentify areas of strength as well as areas that require improvement. Inputis obtained from a variety of sources such as student assessments,teacher feedback, parent feedback, and community surveys. In this way,schools monitor, celebrate and improve their efforts in providing asupportive and challenging learning environment for all their students.
