Cheatham lobby features student-designed mural
Cheatham’s lobby now features a mural created by
eighth grader Enrique Soto and painted by district em-
ployees Christine Crenshaw, Jamie Steinmetz, and Krista
McDowell.
The school’s sev-
enth and eighth
grade gifted class
proposed the idea as
a service learning
project to promote
pride, beauty and creativity for the school.
Soto’s drawing was selected for its content and de-
tail.
The mural was completed over the spring break and
funded by the school’s PTO.

Laveen serves 16,000 breakfasts in one week National School Breakfast week was a huge success in Laveen. Over 16,000 breakfasts
were served across the district during this week-long celebration. That is a 44% increase
in participation.
Students enjoyed a week-long menu of their breakfast favorites including breakfast
burritos, maple French toast, and turkey sausage.
While National School Breakfast Week may be over, Laveen’s cafeterias continue to
serve breakfast every morning for free to all students.
There’s still time to make a tax credit contribution
There is still time to make a tax credit contribution to Laveen schools and reduce
the amount you owe on your 2015 taxes!
Tax credit contributions are used to support character education and fee-based
extracurricular activities such as after-school tutoring and clubs, academic enrichment,
field trips, fine art programs, and athletics.
For every dollar you donate, the amount you owe on your Arizona taxes will be
that much less. Deadline is April 15.
