To the R&CW Team: I am pleased to have this opportunity to share my thoughts with you in the first issue of R&CW News. I look forward to this newsletter becoming a valuable source of information on our expanding activities, as well as a forum for your success stories. As you know, on April 1, I became President of the Residential & Commercial Water Value Center, succeeding Gretchen McClain who was named President of ITT Fluid Technology on the retirement of Hank Driesse. Please join me in expressing thanks to both Hank and Gretchen for their contributions and accomplishments in building the Fluid Technology and R&CW organizations. At ITT headquarters in White Plains, I headed the Operational Excellence team which developed a range of strategic activities including integrated supply chain and strategic sourcing for manufacturing, acquisition/merger integration, Value-Based Six Sigma, Lean and other improvement initiatives. I look forward to fully implementing these, along with other key elements of the ITT Management System, in support of our global growth strategies. In just the past two months, a lot has already happened as ITT Fluid Technology advances to become a market focused organization. The best example of this change is the recent announcement that Fluid Technology is being re-organized into three Value Centers. This change involves the integration of most of Fluid Technology’s Advanced Water Treatment businesses with Flygt to create the ITT Water and Waste Water Value Center. AWT’s C’Treat business will join the Industrial BioPharm Group and will now be called the ITT Industrial Process Value Center. In addition, AWT’s advanced membrane and reverse osmosis water treatment business — WET — will be folded into our Residential & Commercial Water Value Center. Fluid Technology’s water treatment products will now be marketed along with water transport products to our established customer bases across all three Value Centers. I am excited to be part of R&CW and the continuing story of some of the strongest brands in the residential and commercial water markets. Leveraging the synergies and tools available to us, we have built these brands over the years by delivering what customers want, when they want it and with high quality. I believe ITT’s residential and commercial water story has just started, and I look forward to meeting and working with you. efforts aren’t always aligned with our strategicpriorities and we sometimes end up expendingefforts and resources that don’t support ouroverall company goals.

VBGD creates alignment and accountability— stops the leak between strategic plans andaction plans — and ensures that we arerealizing the full potential of our strategies.Last year, ITT provided VBGD training toevery Value Center and to more than 1,000 ofour business leaders. It was certainly one ofthe reasons behind our strong performanceand holds even greater performance andimprovement potential going forward in theprocess.

As it takes hold, VBGD will filter down intoall parts of our day-to-day lives at ITT. WithVBGD, you will be able to ensure that youare working on projects that are important toour company’s future success.

VBGD = Customer, Employee andShareholder SatisfactionAt R&CW, we think business success should beas simple as one, two, three.

1. Create a vision. 2. Build strategic plans that support that

vision. 3. Execute operating plans that support

the strategic priorities.

It seems so straightforward, yet companiesregularly fall short of the financial goals set outin their strategic plans — and not just by a little. Most companies deliver less than two-thirds oftheir strategy’s performance potential. We havetaken steps to stop this “leakage,” and the primaryplug is Value-Based Goal Deployment (VBGD).VBGD is the execution and control process ofour ITT Management System and allows us tospecify and monitor the precise actions we needto deliver our planned performance.

What is a brand?A brand is a collection of perceptions about a product, service or organization. It is the experience you havewhen you interact with the people in the brand organizationor use the product or services they offer. In short, thebrand is what you remember about the company afterthe facts fade. ITT’s brands are corporate assets withfinancial value, and are strategic assets that wepermanently own, leverage and sustain to drive businessvalue above and beyond infrastructure. Strong brandsdrive price premiums, create higher employee commitmentand enable businesses to outperform the market in strongeconomic times while protecting them in weak times.

Our goalITT’s goal is to create an environment where we thinkand act as a single company – “One ITT” – where wemanage our own brands, and also reach out and shareknowledge across the enterprise. Initial success will beaccomplished when every employee is able to articulate“Engineered for life” in his or her own words and acts asan ambassador for the brand.

We are a vibrant part of the global economy and amagnet for people who want to change the world withnew ideas. The ITT Brand Engagement Seminar will bebrought to other R&CW locations in the months ahead.Look to Seminar participants for identification of yourbrands and guidance for presenting a strong, unifiedbrand message to our customers. If you have anyquestions about R&CW branding strategy, don’t hesitateto ask your supervisor.

In March, R&CW North American marketing and salesmanagers met in Morton Grove to participate in the ITT“Engineered for life” Brand Engagement Seminar. Theseminar was developed as an opportunity for managersto interact, discuss Value Center brands, and sharpen thefocus on our presentation of brands to customers andemployees. A key component of the seminar isdirection needed to identify what “Engineered for life”means to R&CW. The seminar was conducted by LandorAssociates, the organization that in 2006 created the newITT logo and branding guidelines.

ITT employees play a pivotal role in developing andsustaining ITT corporate and product brands. Byworking together we not only deliver on our promise,“Engineered for life” but we are better prepared to meetthe challenges of everyday business.

ITT to Enhance Its Presence In India, South Asia

Brenda Reichelderfer, Vice President of ITT Corporation, announced at a recent press conference celebratingWorld Water Day in India that ITT Corporation will beexpanding its presence in India.

“I’m pleased toannounce that wewill open bothmanufacturingand globalengineeringfacilities here inIndia. India

represents the future of our business in South Asia. Wehope to improve water and wastewater distribution andtreatment processes aimed for these markets withproducts developed and manufactured here,”Reichelderfer said.

She reminded the audience that substantial investment isneeded not only in new water and wastewater technology, but also in the world’s aging, and often obsolete, waterinfrastructure. Reichelderfer emphasized that the solution tothe world’s water problems require an effective collaborationamong industry, education and government resulting in newproducts and systems and the application of newtechnologies. She added that educators must fosterengineering and science curricula and research relevant towater issues and governments must plan for the growingwater and environmental needs. Together, these groupsmust develop an effective regulatory framework to insurethe adequacy and quality of water assets.

Reichelderfer concluded by saying that we need to find smallscale solutions that are independent of infrastructure inorder to be able to bring potable water and sanitation to allpeople. This is a challenge for everyone in the water industry.

The Marshall House in Savannah,Georgia has always been known formeticulous service and exceptionalfacilities, and in 2004 and 2005 it wasvoted Savannah’s Best Hotel. Nosmall feat in a city where hospitalityis revered and expectations are high.

Built in 1851, this unique 68-roomhotel is the oldest in Savannah. However, even with its prestige andhistorical charm, the hotel’s guestswere not enjoying consistent waterpressure – it ranged from anunacceptable 20-40 psi. So thehotel’s maintenance engineer contactedthe Goulds Pumps local distributorfor assistance with this increasinglygrowing problem. The old waterbooster system was not operatingproperly, and needed to be repairedthree times during the previous year. And as you can imagine in a hotel ofthis age, space requirements for thewater handling system were also animportant consideration.

After evaluating the hotel’s domesticwater system, the distributorrecommended and installed a 10 HPsimplex booster system consisting ofa Goulds Pumps Aquavar CPCvariable speed pump controller and a

There’s no substitute for hands-onexperience when trying to learn theintricacies of a pump’s critical role ina hydronic heating system. So whenthe University of Nebraska atLincoln needed a large centrifugalpump to use in its ConstructionManagement classes, R&CW wasthere to help with a donation of aB&G Series VSC, double-suction,vertical split-case pump.“We always try to find a goodbalance between ‘book learning’ andhands-on applications using real-lifeinstallations,” said Tim Wentz, thedepartment’s Associate Professor, adding that, “We were in need of alarge centrifugal pump todemonstrate the functionality ofsuch a piece of equipment.”Aside from teaching students how toplot out the performance of thepump on a pump curve, Wentz willutilize the cutaway model so studentscan observe how efficiently acentrifugal pump runs while showingits inner workings.

The lab also has a variety of otherBell & Gossett equipment thatstudents can use for hands-on training. In addition, Professor Wentz’sstudents use ESP-Plus, R&CW’s on-line pump selection program, tounderstand proper pump selection.

Each semester, Wentz uses hisConstruction Management courses

to improve community buildings in thecampus area. Past projects haveincluded doing rehab work onchurches and rehabilitation centers.

“Education has always been importantto ITT,” said Mark Handzel, Directorof HVAC Sales at ITT. “For years,we have been a strong supporter ofschools who are preparing studentsfor careers in engineering.”

ITT Flowtronex Makes Waves with ‘Source to Course’

“We’ve raised the bar.”

That was the assessment of ITT Flowtronex GeneralManager Dan Driscoll following the third annual GolfIndustry Show in Anaheim, CA in late February, whichattracted more than 23,100 people, including almost10,000 qualified buyers.

Flowtronex had a commanding presence at the big show, with a 20’ x 80’ exhibit space and multiple products that gaveample credence to the company’s message: “Source toCourse.”

The marketing theme succinctly communicates thecapability of Flowtronex and its ITT brethren to deliveroptimal quality irrigation water from the source to thegolf course, employing state-of-the-art electronic controltechnology, advanced water treatment processes anddrawing on more than a quarter century of experience inmanufacturing top-quality pump stations.

The ITT stars at the Golf Industry Show were:

• ITT Flowtronex Master Control Architecture (MCA)systems that enable precise irrigation control andintegrated water management from virtually any locationthat has Internet access. It is, essentially, a SCADAsystem for all water equipment on the golf course. Todemonstrate the remote capabilities of MCA byFlowtronex, computers at the show were linked to theirrigation systems of three actual golf courses – two inTexas and one in Florida.

• ITT Advanced Water Treatment (AWT) MS-22 ReverseOsmosis uses desalination processes to make water pureenough for golf course irrigation.

• ITT Flowtronex FloMax, variable frequency drivepumping system with flow rates ranging from 200 to1500 gpm. The Irristorm, available through ITT Lowara,is the international version of the FloMax.

• ITT Goulds submersible well pumps help bring source

water from deep wells to our pump stations.

• ITT Flygt transfer pumps help transfer water toirrigation systems.

• ITT Flowtronex ResCom compact, efficient, reliablepump stations designed for both residential and smallcommercial irrigation systems.

• ITT Flowtronex Nutrifeed Nutrient Injection Systems, which accurately apply up to three different nutrientswith the precision of digital control; available in eitherstand-alone installations or directly linked through theIrrigation Central Control Computer.

The ITT Flowtronex exhibition space at the3rd Annual Golf Industry Show in Anaheim,California attracted over 23,000 attendees toits 20' x 80' booth.

Beyond all the impressive equipment, General ManagerDan Driscoll never misses an opportunity to tout hiscompany’s secret weapon: FlowNet – 168 factory-certified technicians around the world who ensure thatFlowtronex customers receive the timely and competentservice they need to receive maximum benefit from theirFlowtronex equipment. FlowNet is unique in theindustry and a significant competitive advantage for ITTFlowtronex. We like to say we have authorized service inyour area code, if not your zip code.

ITT Corporation was recently awarded severalmajor contracts in Beijing, China, to constructmunicipal water supply and drainage systems. ITTis a major contributor in Beijing’s efforts to buildan environmentally-efficient city, as well as in thecity’s development of fluid technology systems andpreparations for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

As part of the contracts, ITT will providevarious pumping solutions for the 2008Olympic Stadium, known as the “Bird’s Nest”.The climate-control system’s advanced heat-transfer mechanism will enhance the stadium’sheat, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)capabilities. ITT Goulds Pumps, manufacturedin Nanjing, are the heart of the HVAC system, controlling the hydraulic pressure of the systemwhile also maximizing energy efficiency. Thissystem will control the climate inside the Bird’s

Nest, guaranteeing the stadium stays cool forboth the athletes and fans.

ITT is also providing technical solutions for theNational Conference Center in the Olympic

Village. The Conference Center, which willserve as both the Olympic News Center and acompetition site, will employ ITT’s coolingpumps and water supply units. These systemswill use the Lowara Hydrovar frequencyconverter to maintain the appropriate climateand ensure safe water is available for use.

“ITT is honored to take part in theadvancement of this great city with ouradvanced fluid technology systems,” said WilliamE. Taylor, president of ITT China. “With the2008 Olympic Summer Games and beyond,ITT is committed to helping Beijing developinto one of the foremost environmentally-consciouscities in the world and we look forward to lendingour expertise in energy and water efficiency.”

The city has made a commitment to becoming aglobal leader among the world’s majorcities in promoting “green” municipalpractices. ITT Corporation, already established in Poland with itssubsidiary Lowara Vogel Polska Sp.z o.o.m, is buildng anew manufacturing plant in the Special Economic Zoneof Walbrzych, located near the Municipality of Strzelin. This facility will initially occupy around 8,000 square feet

of covered surface and willemploy 100 workers by the endof 2007. It will produce aprogressively increasing rangeof Lowara branded products

for residential and commercial building services, as wellas for the agricultural and irrigation sectors. Shipments areexpected to start in the last quarter of 2007.

Highlighting the strategic importance of this investment,Gretchen McClain, President of ITT FTC, said: “The newfacility will enhance our service level to our customers inthe developing water market segments in Poland and willalso serve as a platform for the supply of our pumps &systems to the neighboring markets in Eastern andWestern Europe and customers around the world.”

Residential & Commercial Water brought its two main European business unitstogether, and is now bringing in more revenues and profits than ever before.

Europe is the perfect proving ground for ITT in its quest to evolve from a collection ofstand-alone companies to a unified, global organization. With nearly 50 countries, dozens of different languages and strong customer loyalty to Flygt, Lowara and otherwell-established ITT product brands, Europe condenses all the challenges of creating aglobal “One ITT” organization into one continent.

Which makes the recent success of ITT’s Residential and Commercial Water (R&CW)group for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) all the more impressive — andinstructive.

“The R&CW team in Europe is achieving strong growth because it was willing to re-make its business profile and go to market in a different, better way,” says JohnWilliamson, President ITT R&CW.

The primary reason behind R&CW EMEA’s growth spurt was its willingness tocombine product lines, sales forces, facilities and company cultures of its two strongEuropean brands, Lowara and Vogel, over the past five years. This integration was thefirst step toward building a more powerful European entity capable of serving a highlydiversified market with a focused approach.

ITT R&CW announced its debut to the outside world with a pressconference to international trade media at the ISH Fair in Frankfurt,Germany on March 7.

ITT used the occasion of the HVACR industry’s premier heating and coolingtrade show to unveil the $1 billion R&CW business that was recently formedby combining the marketing, sales and engineering of several well-known ITTbrands. Karl Buscher, ITT R&CW VP,and Colin Sabol, VP of Marketing andBusiness Development at ITT FluidTechnology, presented the company, organization and capabilities to a groupof international editors representingmore than 20 magazines from six countries.

The duo explained how the companycombined such well know brands asLowara, Vogel, Goulds, Bell & Gossett,A-C Fire Pump, McDonnell & Miller, and many others to become the leadingmanufacturer and marketer of water andwastewater pumps, valves, heat exchangers, controls, and package solutions forsingle and multi-family homes, commercial buildings of all types, as well as avariety of other commercial market applications.

The editors learned how R&CW can provide water pump and heat exchangerneeds for many industrial applications as well as provide complete waterpumping needs for irrigation (agriculture and turf). The R&CW marketing communications team also metwith several other editors at the large ITT exhibit displaying Lowara andFlygt products on the show floor. ISH attracted more than 200,000 HVACRprofessionals from around the world to the annual event.

In total, editors representing nearly 30 trade publications will report theexciting R&CW news to thousands of HVACR professionals worldwide overthe next several months.
