JOURIAN: Daljit Singh Chib, (Minister of State), Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans stressed for better imple- mentation of centrally-spon- sored schemes and aware- ness among farmers regard- ing advanced agriculture practices and better low cost production technology for increasing farmers income and double it by 2022. He was speaking on the occasion of Kissan Sammelan/ Kisan Kalyan Karyashalla organ- ised by Department of Agriculture in Jourian under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. The Abhiyan is being organised today all over the country at block-level. REASI: Department of Agriculture, Reasi organised a Kissan Sammelan (Kisan Kalayan Karyashala) in col- laboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology- Jammu (SKUAST-J), Deptt. of Horticulture, Reasi and other line departments which was attended by more than 270 farmers/farm women, Government officers and private companies etc. The objective of the pro- gramme was to create awareness among the about the strategies to double income by 2022. Ajay Nanda, Minister of J&K State graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while SDM, Katra, Neelam Khajuria was the Guest Of Honour. Chief Guest, Ajay Nanda inaugu- rated the event and drew the attention of the participants to adopt the innovative agri- cultural technologies so that they can enhance their income. Third accused held in stabbing incident STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Police on Wednesday arrested the third accused involved in stabbing case of village Dher Phinter Billawar. The third accused has been identified as Pankaj Sharma son of Mahant Ram resident of Dher Phinter Billawar. The incident took place yesterday at Dher area of Billawar on some rivalry which led to fight between the accused and victim namely Liyaqat Ali son of Munir Hussein resident of Dher Phinter Billawar. The victim was attacked with sharp edged weapon causing grievous injuries to him who later suc- cumbed to his injuries at GMC Jammu. Police has registered an FIR at Police Station Billawar and already arrested two accused namely Abhishek Sharma son of Ramakant resident of Nowshera Mahanpur and Honey Khajuria son of Ram Parkash resident of Dher Billawar with- in hours of incident and also seized the car (JK08C 5917) used for committing crime. Rs 11,600 fine imposed on traffic violators STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: In its continuous endeavour to curb the vio- lation of traffic rules and spread awareness among the people, Traffic Police Doda cracked down on the traffic rule violators along Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH1B) on Wednesday. The Traffic team led by DySP Traffic Doda-Kishtwar, Zohaib Hassan Challaned 29 vehicles and seized one, besides recovered Rs 11,600 fine for various offenses at Assar- Khellani-Pul Doda stretch on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway. Confirming the figures, DySP Traffic Doda-Kishtwar Zohaib Hassan said that apart from awareness among the general masses about safe driving, authorities are enforcing relevant laws to discourage violation of traffic norms. "Following traffic norms is important for safe driving and safety of passengers and co-commuters. The violation of traf- fic rules endangers life and property of the people. Often, some traffic jams also occur due to wrong parking," DySP added, saying that this drive is not only to streamline the traf- fic violation but also to aware general public about its reper- cussions. However, DySP said that large number of people are cooperating with authorities. Two nabbed with Ganja STATE TIMES NEWS BARI BRAHMANA: Police on Wednesday arrested two per- sons and recovered 300 grams of Ganja from their possession at SIDCO Chowk Bari Brahmana in District Samba. They have been identified as Badal Ram son of Babu Ram and Hari Singh son of Mohan Lal both residents of Ward no 8 Telli Basti Bari-Brahmana. According to a report, a team of Bari Brahmana Police Station along with District Special Branch apprehended two persons from Sidco Chowk Bari Brahmana and during frisk- ing police recovered 300 grams of Ganja from their posses- sion. They were arrested and case under relevant section of law was registered against them. LMD imposes Rs 40,000 fine on packing unit STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: A team of officers from Legal Metrology Department under the supervision of Assistant Controller, Rajesh Heera, today conducted a surprise raid on various industrial packing units in Samba in which one of them was found violating Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities Rules 2011. The unit was packing the material without mandatory dec- larations such as name of commodity, net content in standard units, month/year of packing, customer helpline etc. on them which is a sheer violation of Legal Metrology Packaged Commodity rules, 2011 and is a serious lapse on part of the management of the packing unit. The erring packing unit was booked and Assistant Controller, Rajesh Heera after assur- ances from the defaulting trader of not repeating any kind of offence under law, compounded the case and slapped a fine of Rs20000. In other two cases, a fine to the tune of Rs. 10000 each was also realized from the violators of other provisions of legal Metrology Laws. STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: J&K BJP State General Secretary (Org.), Ashok Kaul along with MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Kumar, BJP District President, Kathua, Prem Dogra along with other senior leaders on Wednesday conducted series of programmes under Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan under which the BJP senior leaders interacted with the local masses from various villages having the majority popula- tion from under privileged sections, had meals amongst them and utilized night time at the residence of BJP activists from the weaker sec- tions to warm their spirits up. The series of pro- grammes were conducted at various villages like Bigwan under the Kathua Rural Mandal, Bijwan Lower, Chakk Nathal, Chakk Shabba and Kot Pullu Lower. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Ghani Kohli on Wednesday said that the Government is fully aware of the problems of the people, and is taking various initiatives in this regard to mitigating them. The minister expressed these views after inaugurat- ing a bore well at Kallar and laying the foundation stone of filtration plant at Agrati, Kalakote in Rajouri. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the present Government is fully aware of the problems of the people. He said several initia- tives have been taken to improve the living standard of the people. The minister said every possible effort is being made to provide better basic amenities including adequate safe drinking water facilities to the people of the State, especially living in rural and far-flung areas. He further said that there is a dire need to tap groundwater facilities to fulfil the drinking water requirement of the people where water resources are not available. The minister was informed that the inaugurated bore well is drilled by PHE Ground Water Division at an estimated cost of Rs 24 lakh and will benefit as many as 600 souls of the local popu- lace. Likewise, the filtration plant of water supply scheme Agrati will be constructed at an estimated cost Rs. 1.67 cr under centrally sponsored scheme NRDWP. The plant will have the capacity of 10000 gallons per hour and will benefit over 1500 souls of the area. The minister directed the concerned executive agency to complete the work in a time bound manner so that the people are provided drinking water without fac- ing inconvenience. He said PHE department has already been instructed to conduct a survey of the Constituency and identify the habitations that have not been provided drinking water facilities so far. The minister stressed for using the water judiciously. He said sufficient funds have been earmarked under PHE sector for the development and upgradation of PHE infrastructure in Kalakote constituency for the current fiscal. He directed the employees to work with extra zeal and dedication to maintain the essential services to the peo- ple. The people of the area thanked the Minister for the initiative and for fulfilling the long pending public demand. STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Alleging step motherly treatment towards graduate engineers and back tracking from its promises, All Jammu and Kashmir Civil Engineer Association demanded cor- rective measures to remove pay anomalies and career stagnation. Like all other district headquarters of the state, graduate civil engineers of all cadres from Mechanical, PHE and PWD gathered at District headquarter Doda and staged a sit-in. SAMBA: A team of officers from Legal MetrologyDepartment under the supervision of Assistant Controller,Rajesh Heera, today conducted a surprise raid on variousindustrial packing units in Samba in which one of them wasfound violating Legal Metrology Packaged CommoditiesRules 2011.

The unit was packing the material without mandatory dec-larations such as name of commodity, net content in standardunits, month/year of packing, customer helpline etc. on themwhich is a sheer violation of Legal Metrology PackagedCommodity rules, 2011 and is a serious lapse on part of themanagement of the packing unit. The erring packing unit wasbooked and Assistant Controller, Rajesh Heera after assur-ances from the defaulting trader of not repeating any kind ofoffence under law, compounded the case and slapped a fine ofRs20000. In other two cases, a fine to the tune of Rs. 10000each was also realized from the violators of other provisions oflegal Metrology Laws.

STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Minister forAnimal, Sheep Husbandryand Fisheries Abdul GhaniKohli on Wednesday saidthat the Government is fullyaware of the problems of thepeople, and is taking variousinitiatives in this regard tomitigating them.

The minister expressedthese views after inaugurat-ing a bore well at Kallar andlaying the foundation stoneof filtration plant at Agrati,Kalakote in Rajouri.

Speaking on the occasion,the minister said that thepresent Government is fullyaware of the problems of thepeople. He said several initia-tives have been taken toimprove the living standardof the people.

The minister said everypossible effort is being madeto provide better basicamenities including adequatesafe drinking water facilitiesto the people of the State,especially living in rural and

far-flung areas. He furthersaid that there is a dire needto tap groundwater facilitiesto fulfil the drinking waterrequirement of the peoplewhere water resources arenot available.

The minister was informedthat the inaugurated borewell is drilled by PHEGround Water Division at anestimated cost of Rs 24 lakhand will benefit as many as600 souls of the local popu-

lace. Likewise, the filtrationplant of water supply schemeAgrati will be constructed atan estimated cost Rs. 1.67 crunder centrally sponsoredscheme NRDWP. The plantwill have the capacity of10000 gallons per hour andwill benefit over 1500 soulsof the area.

The minister directed theconcerned executive agencyto complete the work in atime bound manner so that

the people are provideddrinking water without fac-ing inconvenience. He saidPHE department hasalready been instructed toconduct a survey of theConstituency and identifythe habitations that have notbeen provided drinking waterfacilities so far.

The minister stressed forusing the water judiciously.He said sufficient funds havebeen earmarked under PHEsector for the developmentand upgradation of PHEinfrastructure in Kalakoteconstituency for the currentfiscal.

He directed the employeesto work with extra zeal anddedication to maintain theessential services to the peo-ple. The people of the areathanked the Minister for theinitiative and for fulfillingthe long pending publicdemand. Senior officers ofdistrict administrationincluding PHE departmentwere present on the occasion.
