Update from Charisse

Updates from Charisse:

I wanted to pass along a few updates on events and trainings that happen every year.

VIP (Volunteer in Preparation) Training: This is the new leader certification that all 4-H volunteers have to go through to become a certified 4-H volunteer. I will be holding trainings in January and February. If you have an adult in your club interested in going through the training please have them email me, [email protected], to be put on a list so I can coordinate a time that works for everyone to make it. If there is a group of leaders in your club that need to be trained, I would be willing to travel to your area to hold a training. Contact me to set it up.

Annual Leader Training: This is the training that each 4-H club/group is required to send one adult to every year and it is recorded on your club/group charter. I do encourage anyone to attend these trainings as it is valuable information for both youth and adults. These are typically held in the Fall, this year they will be held in late Winter/Early Spring.

As the new year approaches, I have made it a goal to visit a meeting of each club throughout the year. If you have any changes to your club’s meeting dates, times, etc, please let me know.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me, Charisse Orth, at [email protected] or call the office at 608-723-2125.

4-H Member Dues: Each member and leader of the Grant County 4-H program needs to pay a membership due of $5.00. In the past, you may have heard these referred to as “club dues”, when they are actually member dues that the club collects from each member and turns into the county. “So why do I have to pay $5 and where does it go?” The member dues are turned into the county and from there a portion of it goes to insurance and a portion goes to the State 4-H Foundation. Please understand that each club handles member dues differently and you should talk to your club leader about your club’s process. Club leader’s may choose not to confirm your 4hOnline registration for the club until dues are paid. Once a club confirms registration your enrollment will be processed by the county. If you have any questions or concerns about member dues, or need financial assistance please contact Charisse at the Extension Office at 608-723-2125.
