It’s time to start thinking about 4-H ArtBeat!

4-H Art Beat! was created for 4-H members in grades 3-5 and their parents and leaders and is the introductory program for Wisconsin 4-H Arts and Communication! Art Beat! will be held March 17 and 18, 2017, at our State 4-H Camp, Upham Woods in the Wisconsin Dells. The weekend will feature a look at a variety of arts projects including music, drama, visual arts, and more! 4-H members will explore their own creativity while discovering the great variety of 4-H Arts & Communication experiences available to them now and in the near future. Session leaders will be 4-H older youth, adult leaders and 4-H staff members with a wealth of experience to share. Youth and adult participants will rotate through a variety of sessions which are hands-on and active and held at various sites throughout camp. Both youth and adult participants stay in the warm and cozy heated cabins! All adults will be considered camp chaperones. Camp begins Friday evening at 7 pm and ends Saturday afternoon at 3 pm.

The $50.00 per person fee (youth and adults) will include all materials and supplies (including a very cool ArtBeat! backpack!), special snacks, overnight lodging and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Why not get a whole carload of youth and adults together from your county for some genuine 4-H bonding time? Come join the excitement of this opportunity available to some of our youngest (and often most enthusiastic!) 4-H members!

Register early! This camp fills up fast! Registration Deadline: February 10, 2017

Have a Heart Quilting Bee: The 11th annual “Have A Heart Quilting Bee” will be held on Saturday, February 18, (snow date February 19) from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, at the Youth & Ag Center at the Grant County Fairgrounds, Lancaster. The Oak Hill Climbers and Grant County 4-H Home Environment Committee are sponsoring the

Quilting Bee. The quilting bee was started and previously sponsored by the Grant County UW-Extension Homemakers. The sponsoring organizations need help and are inviting the public to join them in making infant and toddler quilts to donate to needy families in Grant County. Last year we were able to make approximately 100 infant and toddler quilts which were distributed to various agencies and organizations that provide services to those in need in the Grant County Community.

Everyone is invited to participate in the event. This is a great event to help those in need in our own community. You do not need to know how to sew or quilt to be a part of this event, anyone can help! In addition to experienced quilters and sewers who oversee the production during the day, people with all levels of experience can help assemble and tie the quilts during the day. Feel free to come for the day, or a few hours - whatever fits your schedule. There will be a potluck lunch at noon. The sponsoring organizations are looking for financial sponsors and donations to cover the cost of the fabric and materials that will be purchased prior to the event. Any donations of fabric will be appreciated and can be left at the UW-Extension Office at the Youth & Ag Center. If you would like to make a financial donation or have a question, please feel free to contact: Ellen Conley at 822-3098.
