It doesn't get any better than Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, the Western Montana Fair, and a chance to support A Carousel for Missoula. Baskin Robbins employees and Carousel volunteers will be serving up cold treats during the Fair, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Carousel. Many thanks to Baskin Robbins and Matt Loomis for this terrific opportunity. 3rd Qtr 2013 Volume XVI Number III Randy & Theresa Cox Harry & Kari Watkins Hobby Horse Arts Enjoy a rocking good time with fellow Carousel supporters on Thurs., Sept. 5, from 6 to 8pm, when we commemorate 18 years of service to Missoula with our annual Celebration Dinner and Auction. Kimberly Roth Get your character on and hurry on down to the Carousel's fifth annual Fairy Tale and Super Hero Festival on Sat., July 27, from 1012. The Fairy Tale and Super Hero Festival is a free event that has become the Carousel's signature warm weather happening. We welcome back Caras Nursery, helping children create magical fairy gardens to take home; Cold Stone Creamery's coupons for free ice cream; Fairytales & Fantasies, with whimsical wings and fairy headbands; the Butterfly House and Insectarium; a bounce pad from the City Life Club, sponsored by Zip Beverage; and many more exciting opportunities. Kimberly Roth of Merrill Lynch is the 2013 presenting sponsor. In addition to those listed elsewhere, sponsors include: Randy & Theresa Cox, Harry & Kari Watkins; McGowan Water; Mismo Gymnastics; Missoula Parking Commission; Missoula Parks and Recreation; Southgate Mall; and the Broadway Inn. Media sponsors are: Cherry Creek Radio, KECI, Montana Marketing Group, Mountain Broadcasting, The Ranch and Townsquare Media. Thanks to these generous sponsors, children are introduced on stage by a fairy queen, create fun crafts to take home, enjoy sweet treats, and take home a Tooth Fairy bag including toothbrushes and toothpaste, courtesy of Missoula Pediatric Dentistry. It takes many happy hearts and willing hands to make an event like this successful. To be a magical volunteer, call the Carousel at 549 8382 to let us know you'll be flying in to help.

Thanks,  Mismo,   for  making  Kids'  Day  2013  such  a  great  success.  We  gave  463  adult  rides  and  1001  children's  rides  to  celebrate  our  birthday,  and  it  was  all  sponsored  by  Mismo!

The  second  annual  Griz  Day  at  the  Carousel  was  enjoyed  by  all,   thanks  to  event  organizer  Julie  Foley,  University  of  Montana  staff,  Townsquare  Media  and,  of  course,  many  terrific  athletes  from  the  football  and  men's  tennis  teams,  and  the  UM  spirit  squad.      Young  fans  had  the  opportunity  to  meet  their  heroes  face  to  face,  and  even  to  catch  a  pass  or  two.  Older  visitors  signed  up  to  win  raffle   items  or  to  purchase  silent  auction  goods.  Carousel  and  Grizzly  fans,  young  and  old,  had  a  wonderful  day.      Special  thanks  to  football  players  Chief  Goodwin,  Bo  Harris,  Sean  Haynes,   Jordan  Johnson,  Danny  Kistler  and  Kelsey  Lippert;   tennis  players  Eric  Braun  and  Andrew  Warren;  and  spirit  squad  members  Baylee  Oligmiller  and  Taylor  Robinson.

A   lot  of  dragon-‐taming  heroes  were  on  hand  on  a  rainy  day  in   late  May  to  perform  maintenance  on  Dragon  Hollow.  Home  Depot,  Sandy  Volkmann  and  Larry  &  Dianna  Riley  sponsored  the  day,  and  volunteers  came  from  far  and  wide  to  ensure  the  play  area  was  safe  and  clean.      We  didn't  get  the  names  of  all  volunteers,  but  we  are  grateful  to  everyone  who  helped.  Special  thanks  to:  Brian  Blanch  &  his  team  from  Home  Depot;  Larry  Riley;  Tom  Blunn  and  Ron  Larsen,  who  volunteer  their  time  to  keep  Dragon  Hollow  in  good  repair  year-‐round;  and  the  team  from  DC  Engineering  ~  Mark  Chumrau,  Mike  Schoenheide,  Barb  Severson,  Rande  Stock,  Leia  Waln,  and  Tom  Wolgamot;  as  well  as  to  Missoula  Parks  and  Recreation  and  the  Missoula  Parking  Commission.      Due  to  the  weather,  we  were  not  able  to  seal  the  wood  or  repaint  the  dragon's  faces.  We  will  be  meeting  up  again  on  Thursday,   July  11,  to  finish  the   job.  Please   join  us.  The  Carousel  board,  crew  and  volunteers  would  appreciate  your  help,  as  would  the  thousands  of  children  who  use  Dragon  Hollow  each  year.  Call  549-‐8382  to   let  us  know  you  can  help.  All   tools  will  be  provided;  you  just  bring  a  cheerful  smile  and  willing  hands.
