3i Customer Analytics Workshop London June 2016 Overview 3i’s Customer Analytics dinner and workshop was held in London on 6-7 June 2016. The event brought together 20 people from across our 3i Private Equity consumer portfolio to deepen their insight and raise their ‘aspiration’ around the customer analytics agenda. It was a fantastic opportunity for attendees to network with peers, share ideas across the portfolio as well as formulate actions to move these forward in our businesses. The event proved an invaluable platform for connecting and collaborating across sectors and geographies.

    Partnering for international growth Strong performance:Our Private Equity team delivered a strong performance in the last 12 months to 31 March 2016, completing three new investments. The Private Equity business delivered a gross investment return for 3i Group of £1,011 million for the year, which represented a 32% return on opening portfolio value and realising c.£1.6bn of capital proceeds on a 3i and Funds basis.

    Our strategy:

    We provide investment solutions for growing companies. Access to both 3i’s balance sheet and external capital allows us significant flexibility when financing deals and for the length of time we hold our investments.

    Our current portfolio of businesses highlights the scale of 3i’s international presence across Europe and the US.

    Investment strategy:

    • We back entrepreneurs and management teams of mid-market companies with an EV typically between €100m - €500m

    • We back international growth plans, providing access to our network and expertise to accelerate growth

    • We look for situations where there are structural opportunities to enhance and drive value growth, e.g. expanding sales into new regions, buy-and-build opportunities, offshoring manufacturing and sourcing international suppliers

    • We focus on core sectors in which we have a proven track record and a deep international network of contacts
