Our nation continues to face increasingly complex issues that are impacting the health and well-being of children and families. It is essential that health care providers are aware of the latest research and evidence-based practice to provide optimal care. Case-based presentations and hands-on practice will complete the afternoon sessions. Target audience includes: Pediatric nurses, advanced practice providers, therapists, social workers, mental health counselors, care coordinators, case managers, child care providers, teachers and others assisting children and their families with healthcare needs in hospital, ambulatory, telephone triage, community health, public health, school, child care, and home settings. The conference will emphasize an integrated approach to care among family, community and healthcare teams through case-based presentations, thought-provoking discussions, and optional Lunch ‘n Learn sessions. At the end of this program, participants will be able to self-report: 1) expanded knowledge of complex health care issues impacting care providers, children, and families; 2) use of available resources, and 3) how to implement evidence-based practice improvements for the care provided.
Continuing Education Credit Registration, attendance, sign-in and submission of the online evaluation, including a written response to questions related to any changes in practice that you may make as a result of learning that took place at this activity, are required for successful completion and receipt of the certificate of attendance. Claim only those hours you attend.
Nursing Children's Hospital Colorado is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Continuing Nursing Education Group, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This offering for 13.5 nursing contact hours is provided by Children’s Hospital Colorado (6/13-7.0 hours; 6/14-6.5 hours).

Objectives
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
Verbalize increased understanding of Colorado’s refugee population.
Explore refugee immunization key challenges, needs, and resources.
Recount prevalence data of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting in children, and discuss culturally sensitive care.
Apply laws and regulations to legal scenarios to guide school health practice.
Discuss statistics and preventative measures on the opioid epidemic.
Share the process and lessons learned for implementation of the transition program at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Review background information and statistics about youth vaping/e-cigarette use in Colorado.
Discuss health effects of vaping/e-cigarette use and how we can impact this epidemic among youth.
Highlight ethical issues in school and community nursing.
Apply knowledge gained from case-based presentations and hands-on practice in the areas of gastrostomy, catheterization, and tracheostomy care.
Utilize an “in the moment” technique to de-stress and gain more energy during the day (optional Lunch ’n Learn).
Report Colorado’s child care licensing and quality improvement efforts (optional Lunch ‘n Learn).

Live Site: The conference is at Children’s Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus, 13123 East 16th Avenue in Aurora, Colorado 80045. Please enter through the main hospital entrance and take the glass elevators to the Conference and Education Center on the second floor. Anschutz Medical Campus employees must park in their designated area. Free parking for Conference guests is available on the lower level of the Family/Visitor parking structure, south of the hospital’s main entrance. Cancellation Policy
No refunds will be granted for cancellation or non-attendance, although you may send a substitute. The Planning Committee reserves the right to alter the agenda or cancel the conference in the event of an unforeseen circumstance, or if the minimum registration is not attained by May 24, 2019, with a full refund to participants.
