35 years ago, RESULTS began when a handful of ordinary people with extraordinary tenacity came together to use their voices and their vision to change U.S. priorities and the world.

This year, we’re doing more than just celebrating our successes after 35 years. We’ll be taking powerful action to change the future.

What we do this year determines if we lock in bipartisan commitments from the new Congress to create true economic mobility in the U.S. and ensure every American family can keep food on the table.

What we do this year determines if the U.S. commits to finish the job of defeating AIDS, tuberculosis, and the biggest child killers, and if we become drivers of ambitious new global goals.

And what we do this year determines what we will accomplish by 2030 — the target for ending extreme poverty and the year we will celebrate our 50th anniversary.

Our annual International Conference is July 18–21. Come to learn new skills, hear from leading experts, and take your message straight to Congress. www.results.org/events/ic_2015/

IT’S A GREAT FEELING KNOWING THAT MY SINGLE VOICE WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE.

In January, world leaders pledged support for Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Gavi is an international organization working to expand access to childhood vaccines in the world’s poorest countries so children don’t senselessly die from diseases like pneumonia, diarrhea, measles, and polio.

The U.S. has supported Gavi in the past, but that wasn’t a guarantee for the future — not unless they heard from us. Our volunteer advocates worked tirelessly to push for a pledge of $1 billion over four years. From hundreds and hundreds of meetings and phone calls with members of Congress to generating nearly 200 piece of media, our advocates demanded that the U.S. stand up for children.

And it worked!

The U.S. made our largest pledge ever: $1 billion over four years! Combined with support from other countries, this money will help propel Gavi to reach 300 million more children with immunizations by 2020 — saving over 5 million more lives and building poor countries’ overall health systems so they can respond to the needs of their people.

Gavi has already supported countries to immunize more than 500,000 children, saving over 7 million lives. Countries receiving Gavi support must also contribute their own funding to cover vaccine costs.

GLOBAL ACTION AND ACCOUNTABILITY

YOU MADE OUR GOVERNMENT REALLY CARE ABOUT KIDS

With your support, we’re committed to making sure our government funds the right things.

When you make your family’s budget, you prioritize the things that are most important — providing daily meals, maintaining the roof over your head, ensuring your kids grow up healthy, and giving your kids every opportunity to succeed.

Each year, every member of Congress has the same opportunity to weigh in on our nation’s priorities through the appropriations process.

This appropriations season, our volunteer advocates all across the country are urging Congress to support the issues that build the foundation to end poverty — health, education, and economic opportunity.

THE FEDERAL BUDGET IS A MORAL DOCUMENT

CITIZENS USING THEIR VOICES TO CREATE THE WORLD WE WANT TO LIVE IN... THAT’S DEMOCRACY. THAT’S RESULTS.

Support maternal and child health interventions

Provide mothers and kids with nutritious food

Vaccinate children against preventable diseases

Fight tuberculosis in poor countries

Help give all kids the chance to go to school

Protect SNAP (formerly food stamps), the first line of defense against hunger in America

Protect and expand the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit for low-income Americans

OUR 2015 FUNDING REQUESTS TO CONGRESS

With your support, we’re using innovative research, leadership, and advocacy to ensure all kids get access to a quality education.RESULTS is committed to empowering low-income

Americans to shape the debate about the causes and solutions to poverty in America.

The voices of low-income Americans are not often heard in election conversations and policy debates, though they have unique and invaluable experiences and knowledge. Far too often, policymakers make de-cisions impacting the lives of low-income Americans without the knowledge or input from those directly impacted by these decisions.

With your support, we train and support low-income Americans to actively engage in policy debates. They engage others in their community networks through local presentations and in local media to highlight poverty issues so Congress enacts the smartest and most effective anti-poverty policies.

EMPOWERING ALL AMERICAN VOICES

We’ve launched the development of the first Right to Education Index. It will help hold countries accountable for providing their children with access to quality education.

Our Education for All Campaign Manager was elected to the Global Partnership for Education Board of Directors!

We’re advocating for increased U.S. support for global education programs.

People with a primary education are 1.5 times more likely to support democracy than people with no education.

A child with an educated mother is twice as likely to go to school.

A child with a literate mother is twice as likely to reach age five.

HIV/AIDS infection rates are halved among young people who finish primary school.

Answer: c. There are nearly 60 million kids around the world not in elementary or middle school. That’s nearly twice as many U.S. kids who are in school.

EDUCATION FOR ALL

Tarkpor Mambia is from Liberia and studies business at Salem State University.

Last December, he lost his sister to Ebola. Grieving, he knew he wanted to make a difference so this tragedy didn’t happen again.

He’s one of our REAL Change fellows, so he knew ex-actly what to do: He went to Capitol Hill to advocate for more U.S. funding for global health programs. His powerful story was featured by NPR.

Our REAL Change fellows are young men and women who receive a year of training and support to become powerful advocates for the end of poverty. They learn how to lobby their members of Congress, become skilled organizers who mobilize their communities, write pieces that get published in the media, and start their own RESULTS chapter or help a local RESULTS chapter grow and thrive.

Thanks to your support, every year we’re able to empower the next generation of advocates!
