34 The Prayers of Daniel
62
The army of Babylon brought Daniel and his threefriends
into Babylon. The king of Babylon forced Daniel and his
friends to eat the food that God told them not to eat.
Daniel and his friends did not eat the food king gave them.
The king’s servant said, “If you don’t each this food, king
will be very mad.” “God will protect us. So please let us eat
vegetables and drink water only.”
The king’s servant allowed them. Daniel and his friends
only ate vegetable and water, God made them healthier
than those who ate king’s food.

Daniel 1, 6
Like this, Daniel decided to only serve God ever since young.
Daniel was very wise. King Darius made Daniel a governor.
But other subjects disliked Daniel.
“The king only likes Daniel.”
They wanted to get rid of Daniel. So they said to the king,
“O King! Cast anyone who pray to other gods except
the king into the den of lions.”
The king listened to the bad servants.
64
But Daniel still prayed to God three times a day.
The servants told the king of this fact.
“O king! Daniel is praying to another god instead of you.”
“What! Daniel?”
The heart of the king who loved Daniel was in pain.
But the king had to command to cast Daniel into
the den of lions.
65
Next morning, the king woke up early and ran to the den
of lions. “O Daniel! Did God save you?” Surprisingly,
he heard Daniel’s voice. “God protected me.”
The king was very happy. Then he told everyone about
Daniel’s living God.

Namwoo prayed before he went to bed. But he had a hard time every
time he prayed. So he asked his mom. “What do you pray about, mom?”
“Are you curious?” “Yes, I promised with God, but I don’t know what to
pray about.”
67
“Namwoo, if you don’t talk to me for a whole day, how would you feel?”
“Hmm……. I would be very frustrated and curious.”
“That’s right. Praying is like talking to God. You can honestly say
anything, just like how you talk to me.” “Ok!”
