Fumiya Kokubu President and CEO, member of the Board of Marubeni Corporation He graduated from Keio University with a B.A. in Economics and joined Marubeni Corporation in 1975. He has spent his career mainly in energy businesses. He was appointed to Chairman & Managing Director, Marubeni Hong Kong & South China Ltd. in 2003; Chief Operating Officer, Energy Div. in 2006; Advisor to the President for Energy, Metals & Mineral Resources Group in 2008; Regional CEO for the Americas, President and CEO, Marubeni America Corporation in 2010; Senior Executive Vice President, Member of the Board of Marubeni Corporation in 2012. He took the chair of President and CEO, Member of the Board of Marubeni Corporation in 2013.

Masahiko Uotani Representative Director, President and GroupCEO of Shiseido Co., Ltd. He Joined the Lion Dentifrice Co., Ltd. (currently Lion Corporation) in 1977 and graduated from Columbia University in the City of New York, Graduate School of Business Administration (MBA) in 1983. He was appointed to Representative Director, Vice President of Kraft Japan Limited (currently Mondelēz Japan Limited) in 1991; Director, Executive Vice President and Chief Officer of Marketing of Coca-Cola (Japan) Co., Ltd. in 1994; Representative Director, President of Coca-Cola (Japan) Co., Ltd. (Global Officer) in 2001; Representative Director, Chairman of Coca-Cola (Japan) Co., Ltd. from 2006 to 2011; Representative Director, Chief Executive Partner of Brand Vision Inc. from 2007 to 2014; Outside Chief Marketing Advisor of Shiseido Co., Ltd. in 2013; Representative Director, President and CEO of Shiseido Co., Ltd. in 2014; Representative Director, President and GroupCEO of Shiseido Co., Ltd. in 2016.

Yoichi Takita Senior Staff Writer, Nikkei covering macro economy and financial markets. Before starting his career as a business journalist, He received his master’s degree in law from Keio University in 1981 and joined Nihon Keizai Shimbum, Inc. He was the Zurich Bureau Chief from 1987 until 1990 and the senior staff writer for Nikkei America from 2008-2009. In 2001 he became a senior staff writer, writing columns for Nikkei. In 2008, he received the Vaughan-Ueda International Journalist Award for reports on the Lehman crisis. He has written several books; the global financial crisis in Opening Pandora’s Box (2008), How to Read the Currency Market, 4th edition (2013), How to Read Interest rates (2014), Turmoil of Global Economy (2016) and so on.

Hiroaki Nakanishi Chairman of the Board and Representative Executive Officer, Hitachi, Ltd. He graduated from the University of Tokyo with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and joined Hitachi, Ltd. in 1970. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from Stanford University in 1979. He was appointed to Vice President and Executive Officer in 2003; Senior Vice President and Executive Officer in 2004; Executive Vice President and Executive Officer in 2006; Representative Executive Officer, Executive Vice President and Executive Officer in 2009; Representative Executive Officer and President in 2010; Representative Executive Officer, Chairman & CEO in 2014; Chairman of the Board and Representative Executive Officer in 2016. He has also served as a Vice Chairman of Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) and a Counsellor of the Bank of Japan.

Reiko Akiike Senior Partner and Managing Director of the Boston Consulting Group She joined the Tokyo office of the Boston Consulting Group in 2006. Besides executing consulting projects, she takes roles of important committees in the Government and private sectors. Before joining the firm, she worked for the Government buyout fund Industrial Revitalization Corporation of Japan (IRCJ) and McKinsey & Company. She worked at IRCJ as a Managing Director. She holds an M.E. in applied Biochemistry from Waseda University, and an M.S. in management from Sloan School at MIT.

David Atkinson CEO of Konishi Decorative Arts and Crafts Co., Ltd. Prior to joining Konishi, David worked as a financial services consultant for Andersen Consulting (London and New York) for three years, followed by two years at Salomon Brothers Tokyo as a bank analyst. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1992, and was made a managing director in 1998 and partner in 2006.He was born in the UK and holds an MA in Japanese Studies from the University of Oxford. Book publication (Japanese): Japan’s Bad Debt Problems (Oct 1994), Protecting Japan’s National Treasures (Oct 2014), New Tourist Strategy (Jun 2015) which won the Yamamoto Shichihei Prize, and Strengths and Weaknesses of the Japanese Economy (Jun 2015). He has served on a number of government committees including Olympic Events, Japan Heritage, Kimono industry, Savor Japan, English Guidance for Heritage, and the Project to Fully Enjoy National Parks. .
