Luwax V Flakes can be dissolved in combinations of e. g. mineral spirits. Laropal ® K 80 can be used to improve the hardness and gloss of the films formed by Luwax V Flakes. Polishes for wooden floors Luwax V Flakes have a liquefying effect on solvent-based polishes for wooden floors, even if they are added at concentrations as low as 0.2 – 0.8%. Very high-quality liquid floor polishes can be produced with Luwax V Flakes. Polishes for stone floors Polishes for stone floors can be prepared by first of all dissolving the Laropal K 80 in a mixture of 20% mineral spirits at room temperature, preferably by stirring the resin into the solvent. The Luwax V Flakes are then added, and the mixture is heated to around 50 °C in order to increase the rate at which the wax dissolves. After that the cold mineral spirits is added. The solution remains clear when it is cooled to room temperature. The following is a typical example: 8% Luwax V Flakes 1% Laropal K 80 20% mineral spirits 71% mineral spirits, cold Leather Solutions of Luwax V Flakes in toluene are usually applied to shoe-upper leather that has not received any pigmented finish. The wax forms a smooth film which can be buffed to a high gloss. Sole leather can be given a lasting water-repellant finish by applying molten Luwax V Flakes. Leathercare products in paste form can be prepared by dissolving 15 parts of Luwax V Flakes in 85 parts of paraffin oil at 60 °C. Metal and plastics Solutions of Luwax V Flakes can be applied to metal to provide temporary protection against corrosion. Luwax V Flakes can also be used as a mould release agent.
